(Some Guy)   Hidetaka Miyazaki laments that Elden Ring's release was "not a very pleasant time" for him. Is the next fark headline meme going to be an ever increasing number of deaths? Can't wait for an Elden Ring headline that is focused on Brazil, so we can get the Brazilian deaths meme out of the way

I mean I think it's the best game in years but do we really need a daily thread about it?

Being a game developer often sucks, film at 11.

Probably as unpleasant as that time his parents apparently left him in a poison swamp as a child.

I mean is there anything actually going on in video gaming right now besides this?

though totally not my style of game, so not playing and probably never will. I'm not a huge fan of the "Action-RPG" genre. Espiccialy the souls like design angle of die more or master the skills, and then beat the game in just 2.5 hours without dying.

I was 14 once, and could beat NES Contra as many times as i felt like sitting at it on one life.
And now i don't find mastery of that sort of game play to be as engaging any more.

Unless you're speed running, ain't nobody beating Elden Ring in 2.5 hours even if you never die.

Dunno, too busy playing Elden Ring.

I guess Horizon was a hit too but made the mistake of coming out right before, and has the flaw of being another "look at all these icon on the maps" games. "Ooh i wonder whats up here.. oh wait, its another cookie cutter tribal base since it was nice to label that before I even went there and found out."  Knocking parts off dinosaurs is kinda fun tho.

Aside for Sekiro it's really over rated. Summoning people makes it fairly trivial to get past anything. Unless you summon an uncoordinated glass cannon mage schlub like me who gets two hit and then you are stuck alone fighting a boss with 2x health.

Hidetaka Miyazaki? The guy that won The Masters last year makes video games too?

GT7 came out after and that seems like a bigger mistake as I'm sure it's doing well just it's hardly being talked about.

OlliOllieWorld also came out but that's more of a niche title for people who really want to play a game where constant perfect timing and reactions matter.

Also driving in loops is about as boring as a game gets.

There's already at least one sub hour run out there. I bet it'll be down to 40 minutes by the end of the year.

There's also someone beating Dark Souls with a guitar hero control, that doesn't make it the norm.

My point is, if that can be done, exactly how hard can we imagine the game really is?

By that definition there is no such thing as a hard game because there is always going to be some pathetic nolife virgin who can speedrun it.

I haven't played yet. I do have it but haven't at the time/interest to fire it up.

I keep hearing about the 'no pause' option.

Don't you get a 'pause' if you go into a 'equip' some type of 'inventory management' screen. And just park there for a bit.

Nope, but you can fast travel to any site of grace, sit there and just park there basically.

Or you can just quit to the menu, coming back doesn't respawn anything.  As long as you aren't mid battle you can pause.

It could use some more dodge rolling that's for sure.
