Ok, this actually increases my interest in DUNC 2.

As other articles pointed out, Irulan is barely in the first book at all (but is the author of all the chapter headings), so either they're changing something or they're including some stuff from Dune Messiah. Maybe they're going to green light Messiah, which is fine w/ me.

It's a critical role, one with the potential to grow if "Dune" stretches deeper into novelist Frank Herbert's literary canon.

Oh please, oh please, oh please.  We've waited SO LONG for Bouncin' Baby Leto!

She's damn cute... It's actually pretty impressive how they managed to replace Scarlett Johansson by the end of Black Widow. You really walked out with Yelena in the forefront of your mind. They took one hottie, substituted another, retiring the first, and you just kind of went with it. I'm really looking forward to more from her.

I love Florence Pugh. She must have been about 20 when The Little Drummer Girl was filmed, and she carried it. I think she was on screen for about 90% of the series. Amazing.

And cast Antman's daughter as Alia.

Dude she's 13. Which is a bit old for Alia.

First saw Florence Pugh in Little Women (don't judge me) and I'd never heard of her before but she stood out in her secondary role of Amy in a cast that also included Saoirse Ronan in the main role of Jo as well as Emma Watson, Laura Dern, Chris Cooper and the grand dame of American actresses, Meryl Streep who got to play the scenery chewing role of Aunt March.  Very impressive.

Amusingly, Timothée Chalamet was also in Little Woman as Laurie and for those who don't remember the story, his character marries Florence Pugh's.  Guess the Dune people liked the idea of them as a couple, although I don't know if you'd consider Paul and Irulan much of a couple.

Still not cast (or at least not announced.)  Barry Keoghan has been rumored as a potential pick for a while now.

Personally I'd like to see Bill Skarsgard as I think it'd be neat to cast Stellan's real life son as his character's nephew.

I have to watch it. I was very unimpressed with the original, and couldn't figure out why everyone was raving about it. Then they stopped raving... :-)

Herbert is hard to read, kinda like Tolkien, but I really DO want to enjoy Dune, so the buzz from this version has me optimistic.

He definately has that scheming, backstabbing look down.  A nice physical opposite to Rabban as well.

Villeneuve did an amazing job letting the visuals and score handle exposition.  I know that sounds odd but you'll understand when you watch it.  Especially in regards to certain factions.

Johansson was great as Black Widow. Yelena has a very different, and in my opinion more fun personality than Natasha, which really helped.

They did a good job finding an absolutely stunning actress who also has a lot of charisma and, most importantly, is a great actor.

I wonder if Feyd will show up at all. I would have expected him to appear in the first; you have to establish him as sort of the "anti-Paul," for the denouement to have the gravitas it did in the novel.

I've been thinking they might have the climactic duel be between Paul and Rabban; Rabban's already been established as a character, and lean, lithe Paul killing the big, bulky, fearsome Rabban would make for visuals that demonstrate just how good a fighter Paul's become.

Look - I adore the novel and I wouldn't hate this idea. Hell, they could even change it so that the Atreides-daughter-that-should-have-been was supposed to be mated with The Beast to create the Kwisatz Haderach; that would be much more horrifying and twisted than Feyd-Rautha.

Oh yeah, I understand how important a good score can be. Unless it's something truly dynamic, like John Williams, it really should live in the background and subtly influence you without you even noticing it.

It's been a long time, but I used to re-read the original 6-book series in a week (insomnia is a hell of a drug), and I swear she was more prominent in Lynch's film than in all of the books combined.

Somehow, I can't seem to find my books, as much as I want to read them, but I suspect that a good chunk of them being bought by an ex who inscripted them on the inside of the cover or the first blank page might have gotten them disappeared by someone who took offense.

Honestly, only the first 3 were worth a damn.
