Did they announce anyone else yet? If not it seems odd to lead off with the headliner

Saw Undertaker at a couple of house shows back in the 1990s.  It's live.  The lights go out and it goes quiet.  The silence just hangs there with palpable anticipation in the air.

And EVERYONE marks TF out.

I saw Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Hart, Austin, Rock and Foley in their WWF/E primes live.  I feel fortunate.  But there's something super special about the presence of The Undertaker in person I can't describe adequately.

They always lead with the headliner. Plus WM is in Texas so Taker doesn't have to travel far. They better not have his speech only be 5-10 minutes like the other people. He can talk as long as he wants.

I was there at WrestleMania 8 to see him wrestle Jake "The Snake" Roberts which was match number 2 of the streak that would go on for another 20+ years. So Taker deserves an induction all to himself for what he was able to accomplish.

It will take him at least 20 minutes to get to the lectern.

They had to put it there so he can start his walk now and get there just in time

Yep.  He carried WWE so many times when they needed a top heel.

Mark Calloway can take as long as he wants to get to the stage and as long as he wants to speak. And he had better mention the actual undertaker that used to be his mouthpiece.

Back in the day, we used to all get together at Bill Batemans (a local wings-and-pitchers place) for the WWF pay per views. They'd air the PPVs for free with the expectation that we and the rest of the packed house would drink a lot of beer and eat a lot of wings. I can still hear the noise that place made when this happened

When I was much younger, the old man used to let me get the pay-per-views at home. I still remember The Undertaker coming out with Brother Love as the secret partner on Ted Dibiase's team.

you and me both!

as a total mark for ultimate warrior, the ending made my day, which was possibly the greatest birthday ever.

Also, was a big fan of jake, and bret.  was too young to appreciate flair.  But man, great memory.

did you ever go to the house shows at market square arena back then? i went twice. got a jake shirt, and a foam hacksaw jim duggan board.

Dunno how it took that long for a mention of one of, if not the, greatest match in WWF history: Undertaker and Mankind, Hell in a Cell '98.

/ both men could've retired that night and still be HoFers.

Some hick town outside of Clearwater FL, IIRC, Hacksaw Jim had a gym.  It was called Havksaw's Gym.  No sh*t.

Going back and rewatching it, realizing that Foley was essentially unconscious for a big stretch of that match.

greatest terrifying spectacle of late-90's wrestling? absolutely.  i can't really consider it a great match though.  In that era WWF, I go with bret & austin as the pure clinic.  Of course, bret had so many matches that were fantastic (owen, piper, shawn, austin) that his name belongs on "match of the year" lists from the start of his singles career, until he left for the trainwreck that was WCW.

HIAC though, its kind of up there with the funk/sabu barbed wire, or angle/shane in terms of i just cringe, but can't look away, knowing the kind of damage these folks were doing for us.

I never got to go to a lot of events as a kid, but was a big fan of wrestling because of my grandpa who used to watch The Bruiser and others. So I was happy when my dad got tickets to WrestleMania for me, Grandpa, and him... and on that night there were three generations of the el Ass family there in The Hoosier Dome. As a big fan of Roddy Piper (my favorite wrestler) and Bret Hart, and that was the main event for me along with Ric Flair and Randy Savage since I was one of a few to actively root against Hulk Hogan back then. Jake and Taker was cool, but it was such a weird match since Jake was doing things he never did and later on when he showed up in WCW we knew why.

"As god as my witness, he is broken in half" is still an absolutely amazing line.

With Taker, I'm glad they didn't get him to do any extra of the Supershows so that his last match was the AJ Styles one. Knowing now that it was the last match, I kind of wish it was night 2. I mean was it a great "wrestling match", no, but damn if that shiat wasn't so entertaining and perfect for what was going on. And if they had him go off into "the sunrise" Shane style, it would have been an amazing finish.
