1. The scene in Young Frankenstein where the monster sets the beggar's (Gene Hackman) thumb on fire while trying to light his cigar. 10-year-old me fell off the bed laughing in my parents bedroom, where I was watching it with my dad and brother.

2. Ghostbusters, when the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man is revealed. I fell out of my chair laughing - in a movie theater.

3. There's Something About Mary, when Ben Stiller is fighting with the dog, which is hopped up on speed. Again, fell out of my chair laughing - again in a movie theater.

I saw Something About Mary in the theater and laughed out loud a lot. I wasn't alone. And since I was in a primarily black area the theater was 100% up for grabs. People jumping up, spinning around, smacking the person next to them. Running up and down the aisle. Yelling at the screen. Everything.

When they showed the testicle caught in the zipper I thought the roof was going to cave in. One of my favorite moviegoing experiences ever.

Titanic, when Leonardo falls off the door into the ocean, in the same pose he was holding on to the door. Laughed out loud in the theater where my first wife made me go see the movie with her. I was asked to leave because teen girls started crying.

Wasn't it the opposite of that, didn't he set the monster's finger on fire?

Indeed - strike that, reverse it.

For my job, I had to watch Airplane! about seven weeks before its release in 1980. Had to.

I usually worked by myself in a closed-off room with no else in it, but I found lots of people were drawn to my frequent howls of laughter, and found their way in to join in the fun.

And if you're old enough, keep in mind that this movie was pretty much unlike any other to that time. Laughed til I cried.

Serious question. What was your job that required you to watch Airplane? That must have been entirely different kind of job altogether.

As a kid, in a Pink Panther movie when Peter Sellers' face makeup started to melt when the tank of laughing gas was leaking.

As an "adult" when Saddam kept pulling out realistic penises when he was in bed with Satan in the South Park movie.

Animal House. I was 16 and tripping on mescaline. Really, really good mescaline.

Outside of that, I nearly expired watching some Pink Panther movies.

Serious? Surely you can't be serious. I was a telecine colorist (pan & scan, color correction, and transfer to videotape. The job has evolved quite a bit in the digital age.)

A few years ago we went to see Showgirls in the theater with commentary by a comedy writer. Since the projector is digital, he could pause, rewind, whatever he wanted. That was, by far, the hardest I've ever laughed in a movie theater.

The Three Stooges movie from a few years ago was much better than I thought it would be. Truly hilarious especially for those of us who were TS fans as a kid. The jokes, body language, etc., were all spot-on!

Borat. Particularly the scene where Sacha Baron Cohen chases Ken Davitian through the hotel. I was in a packed theater, trapped in a middle seat so I couldn't get out, and was on the verge of pissing myself.

A close second was Kingpin.

I also found Scorpion King hilarious but I'm told it wasn't intended to be a comedy. We almost got kicked out of the theater for laughing and to this day I can't understand how anyone takes that movie seriously.

"Animal House" is up there, for sure.

But, even though I'm not really a fan of it, "Borat" probably wins. It made me laugh the hardest. But it's a *different* kind of laugh. More of a "this is wildly transgressive" kind of laugh.

1. Life of Brian. My brother and I watched it at a theater in North York. The cinema was about 75% full and we were the only people in the place that was howling with laughter at the jokes that poked fun at religion. So, most of the movie.

2. Blazing Saddles. No explanation necessary.

I nearly died laughing at the 3rd(?)  Twilight movie.  My daughter wanted to see it and didn't have anyone to go with her. I hadn't seen the earlier movies I absolutely howled with laughter at some of the stupid stuff in it. I think it was the scene where they had boinked and the bed was all busted to hell that caused me to laugh so hard that my daughter asked me to leave the theater.

For movies that were trying to be funny, it would be Overboard with Kurt and Goldie.

I'm not much of a movie guy. I couldn't think of one on my own so I popped in here knowing I would see some that qualified...

iToad: Rat Race.

A friend and I still quote this movie, particularly "Ah! Little cock doggies!" Such a fun movie.

Mollari: "It's a mad,mad,mad,mad world."

Well, I guess it's no wonder I like both of these, seeing as one is mostly a remake of the other. My dad rented this on VHS one time and sat me down to watch it because he said I would probably really like it. I did, reluctantly at first, but loved every second of it.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I repaid the favor to my dad by having him watch this. I never saw the guy laugh so much. He still calls it one of his favorite movies to this day.
