Type 1a supernovae make me tingly.

tfa: ... with a whopping 1550 independent type Ia supernovae, the Pantheon+ analysis has ...

If my reading is correct, the Pantheon+ analysis confirmed the most common current theories about the relative amounts of matter and dark energy in the universe by determining with some considerable accuracy, the rate of expansion of space itself.  It brushed off some other speculative theories about the existence of dark energy, saying the current theory of dark energy being a property of space itself, a cosmological constant the same everywhere, is the simplest explanation.

The article also talks about different technique of measuring the rate of expansion from the Cosmic Microwave Background data that comes up with a similar, but not similar enough, number which leaves scientists scratching their balls.

My perspective on the expansion of space is that space just can't stand itself and is trying to get away from itself as fast as it can.  It's perfectly flat for the same reason.

Apparently the biggest white elephant in that is that we know what every form of matter in the universe is and can explain them all

So can someone point me to the groundbreaking paper that details what dark matter actually is?

AND YET...

Questions such as:
what is it that makes up the Universe?
what ratios of the various ingredients that exist are present?
how did the Universe come to be the way it is today?
how did it all begin?
and what will our ultimate fate, in the far future, actually turn out to be?
used to be in the realm of the unanswerable. Yet, over the past 200 years, they've moved from the realm of the theologians, philosophers, and poets into the scientific realm. For the first time in human history, and perhaps in all of existence, we can answer these questions knowingly, having revealed the truths that are written out there on the face of the cosmos itself.

Critical thinking isnt your skill is it. Because that sure as hell sounds like it says we know what everything is
