My first experience with a model 3 was being standing at the rear door figuring out how to open it and get in.

Especially as a designer it was one of the most infuriating experiences of my life.  Even if i hadn't noticed the other boat load of idiotic design decisions that was reason enough to know I will never buy a Tesla.

Why am I not surprised it's a Tesla? They're poorly made cars for stupid people. The fandom's toxicity makes it impossible to buy an electric car because reasonable people don't want to contribute to Elon's MAGAty oligarchy.

The world is pretty evenly divided these days.
Seditionists and normal people.
Antivaxxers and normal people.
Racists and normal people.
EV cultists and normal people.

Positioning Tesla as an EV for the MAGA adjacent is probably the only way they would even consider an EV.

You're not a Tesla engineer! How would you know!?!?

Honestly I'm betting that's just a line PR spat out because it sounds better than "we thought it looks cool. Form over function, yo!"

Cool. Where's the article about my Audi's frozen door handles? Things freeze in winter.

I turn the heat on in the car 30 minutes before I leave so I've never had this issue in the 7 years I've owned the EV in the Mid Atlantic US.

/ I've doors freeze shut on many cars in the past. Water gets between the glass and the weather strip then freezes.

Yup.  Today's high in my SoCal city is going to be 89 (admittedly this would tie a record for February 11th).

I mean, they sold about a million cars last year, so it doesn't seem like it's "impossible" to buy them.

Run the air with recirculate off. Works great on my LEAF, and apparently does the trick in a Tesla too.  And you don't even have to leave the house.

Lots of crying ICE ICE babies in here. I guess all those times the door handles froze on my car in Colorado were a figment of my imagination. The problem is exclusive to Teslas. And apparently die hard Trumpers are driving their EVs to antivaxx rallies.

Fark is so stupid these days sometimes I wonder if it's contagious.

Farkers:  Somebody should really do something about all these CO2 emissions causing climate chainge.
Also Farkers:  Lets shiat on EVs as much as possible and gobble up every bit of negative propaganda we can find.

Yes if the whole door freezes shut it's a pain. And happens to many vehicles but the hideaway handles being frozen so you can't even pull on the door are an idiotic design choice.

Back in the early 90's handles like on this Chev 1/2 ton were quite common, sat flush and were capable of being grabbed.

Really how hard would it be to design something like that on these modern cars that are more practical? Oh right it's Tesla so I'm pretty sure they'll come out with some stupid mariachi mode or something and the fans will think it's the best thing ever. Heck maybe they'll go extra innovative and totally remove any displays in the car replaced with a VR headset to show you all of the stuff you'd normally see on the dash...

I can't remember the exact details, but once he got a little too negative about a small thing and even their comment section wasn't having it. He ended up admitting that the Tesla hate articles drive a bunch of traffic and they weren't going to pass up easy clicks.

There are LEGIT reasons to dislike Tesla and (especially) Elon, but very rarely do those actually ever come up.  It's just circlejerking idiocy like this thread.

Anyone who lives in cold knows your car door doesn't just freeze shut.  Generally it only happens if it recently snowed, it's sunny, it's below freezing, your driver side is in the shade, you keep your car outside, and you didn't brush it off (WHICH YOU SHOULD).   ALL of those things need to happen in order to for your car door to freeze.

(It can also happen in an ice/freezing rain storm, but in that case, you're not going to be able to open your car no matter what car you have)

Even if you're one of the very few people who lives in an apartment that actually has an EV (it's still quite inconvenient) and you live in a place with a lot of snow and you're too lazy to clean it off... perhaps you should rent a garage in the complex or cover your car.

So ultimately it's an almost completely non-existent problem, easily solvable, impacts more than just Tesla cars... so it's all just 'hey, let's crap on Tesla for no reason at all other than circle jerking on each other!'

The pull handles were developed by (I think) MB because they give a rescuer more leverage to get a door open,

I love them cause I know that, it's a safety feature
