Hard to purify yourself in the waters of lake Minnetonka when it's full of crusty old yacht fuel.

Apparently, the owners did yacht see a lawsuit coming when they improperly parked their boat.

It looks like it's just abandoned on the side of the road. The owners just don't seem interested in moving it, the police should just do it and charge the owners whatever it cost and the cost of storing it till they come and get it.

the owners of a 58-foot yacht created a dangerous situation by illegally leaving it on county-owned land.

That heap is worth about what it costs to store it yearly, so it's hard not to sympathize with her owners.

They're just trying to unload a white elephant, is all.

If only it was the "Seaward" they'd know what to do.

The owners could not figure out how to start an electrical fire?

Is there a yacht junk yard?

What do you do with an old boat?

"The two happiest days in a boat owner's life: the day you buy the boat, and the day you sell abandon the boat."

You can pay to have them parted out and shredded, or you can pay a cheap storage place to let them rot away outdoors as long as you're willing to pay the twelve hundred bucks a year to forget about her.

/ boat junkyards are among the saddest of places

Oh yeah, remember this from a month ago. Some guy live streamed it on YT. They took it through the ice on the lake and you can see the damage on the keel in the article pic.

Problems caused by not finding the man in the boat.

You've never met assholes till you've met boat assholes. Not saying all boaters are assholes. Just there's a higher likelihood.

They only used it for it's stated purpose.

I don't see the problem here.

Dunno...she might still fetch a couple hundred k, given shortages and supply chain issues...depends on her condition.

Buddy tried to order a new dinghy outboard...delivery date is 2023.

Berquist told the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal that he's working on addressing the issue, and accused Hennepin County of "taking an enforcement opinion rather than a solution opinion."

Fark right off dude.  The boat is your problem, store it on your land until you find a solution for it.  You chose to dump it on County property and now you want them to find a solution for you?  How about the County FD uses it for practice and they send you a bill for the clean up?

Difficulty:  whoever moves it could be liable if the fuel spills, and that can be $100k in mitigation...if the hull is cracked, I wouldn't risk my CDL hauling the thing until someone drained the tanks for me.

My old powerboat was half the length, and my marina required $750,000 in remediation insurance.

I think he doesn't seems to get that HIS problem is not THEIR problem. His problem is that he doesn't have a place to store his boat. The county's problem is that his boat is on their properties. The county does not care about solving HIS problem.

To add- he live streamed it for days and has been posting on the saga occasionally since  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkFkkG1mpSxV1wkXGaoHYyI0_KRrSBVvb

It's a comedy of errors to see them try to pull this thing from the ice, while on an icy boat ramp, while using whatever HF quality ropes and straps they had laying around
