You've got to hand it to Kraft.

That is all.

As a Pats fan since 1970... who the hell cares.  I was driving yesterday, and both sportsball radio stations talked about nothing else but the disrespect Brady showed NE fans.  I listened to NPR for the bulk of my drive.

Tom said the nice things about the Patriots when both sides failed to negotiate a contract two years ago.  Good enough.  I don't particularly care about any of the off field drama, but that's what the sports media is about these days.

I'd rather talk about Flores, because at least his off field actions are about real life, about our societies treatment of humans in measurable meaningful ways.  I'd like to see Kraft hire Flores as Defensive Coordinator/successor to Belichick, because that would help our on the field defense.

Hurt feelings of fans, and a billionaire owner?  Who has time for that?

Ted Johnson's head is so farked up from football, he's less listenable than Joe Rogan and less believable than CHB.

If that's true, any 80-year-old that still throws temper tantrums should be seeing a psychiatrist or on meds.

1. Look at our crybaby society.

2. Note that we are living longer.

3. Expect more 80yo manchildren.

It'll be interesting to see what team's uniform Brady wears when he enters the HOF.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the NFL Hall of Fame is like the MLB Hall of Fame, where players go in under a certain team's logo. I think you're just inducted as a player, and that's that. Someone, feel free to correct me on that if I'm wrong. That said, regardless of winning a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay, he'll always be associated with the Patriots because that's where 99.9% of his success came from.

At the HOF, the busts display each team that the player played for.  But there's no logo or anything else that would put one team above another.

Brady stopped being solely an athlete (and thus stopped being answerable to Patriots fans to a degree) when he did things like marry a supermodel and put his name on a wellness regimen -- at that point, he became a celebrity athlete.

And if there's one thing celebrities know how to do, it's to get and keep people talking about them, and it makes no difference if that attention is positive or negative -- the more exposure, the better.

Now that he's retired, arguably he's not an athlete any more. So now it's all about his celebrity.

Pissing off his former employer is just part of the strategy. He'll still get a spot in the Patriots HoF in Foxboro -- hell, I was there two weeks ago and they hadn't even taken his jersey off the quarterback in the on-field diorama.

Nice to see Ted Johnson back on his feet. Dude was in rough shape for a few years because of concussions.

Kraft, fark him.  Whatever Brady earned with the Patriots, he made that ten times over.  The fans deserve better, though.  They're buying his jersey.  Wearing his name.  I'm sure there are quite a few 12 tattoos in New England.  Hell, they're the ones actually paying that salary.

Well, hopefully Antonio Brown won't be coming back without Brady to argue for his return.

I think the annual TV contract (which is split among all of the teams and paid out before a player even sets foot on the field) funds player salaries way more than jerseys or tickets.

Still, let's say for the sake of argument that fans DO pay players' salaries and are owed something for their support -- where was the outrage when Kraft and Belichick let Brady go for nothing after making an objectively shiatty offer to him on his last contract?

Those same fans were saying that Brady was too old and too slow and he was asking for too much money. They were also hammering Tampa for taking the too old, too slow, and too expensive player.

So, yes, the fans deserved better -- from the franchise that let Brady walk, replaced him in the first year with the corpse of Cam Newton, and then blew almost $200 million on free agents so they could get eliminated by the farking Buffalo Bills.

Brady turned the Pats into winners, and that arguably inspired all of the rest of the pro teams in Boston to win titles in the last two decades. He also gave up a lot of money, year after year, so the team could bring in more talent.

I say this as a Patriots fan: Brady doesn't owe me shiat.
