Did that article seem to end in a weird way to anyone else?

Anyway, here are two links to the story of MTV's Van Halen contest -
'Lost Weekend With Van Halen' Winner Tells His Story (vhnd.com)
The Lost Weekend With Van Halen - Rock and Roll True Stories
Sex, cocaine and Van Halen - inside MTV's wild '80s contests (pagesix.com)

Ok, it was three.

TFA is pretty cool, but it just kind of ends...

Oddly enough, I know someone who auditioned for the role of young Alex in that video.

I made a lot of bad decisions that turned into great times with that cassette as the background music.

Damn, he was Grover Dill too

The ending was kind of abrupt, but very cool. Eddie took the time to play for the kid. That's what I call a happy ending.

Cool story bro. Especially "Do your job son and grab that hot chick's leg."

Just like the students in the video, the ending of that story left me wanting more.

Well, obviously.
In their world, you were either a bully, a toadie or one of the nameless rabble of victims.

I was never the biggest VH fan, but from all accounts, Eddie was a great guy. He truly believed in building up the next generation of musicians, and recognized the power that these small moments had on people. He engaged when and where he could.

From playing Running with the Devil for a kid at a video shoot, to replacing someone's gear they lost in a fire (can't remember who that was right now, but it was a cool story).

That is probably the only part of the whole story that actually happened

Just don't be in his band without also being his brother.

IDK, the way he described the band reacting to him being in the trailer sounds legit. I've seen things about that weird happen in real life.

I came here to basically state that damn near every teen male on earth in the 1980s wishes that they had a mother who would say that... teen girls, not so much.

Everything about Mtv contests struck me as being off and odd even when I was a kid. For like a nanosecond it sounded cool for some of them, but the ultra-rare public follow-up by Mtv made them seem so very much more sketchy. The worst one had to be "Win a pink house from John Cougar" and that was a real team-building disaster for the Mtv NY set, and the most cringeworthy one had to be "win a part in a Loverboy Video" and they basically wound up with a less-than-supermodel fan who got half a nanosecond of screen time, and you could practically see the makeup artist mouthing 'silk purse, sow's ear' when they showed the set.

Reacting to your other articles, "After Jeffries was announced as the winner, he received hundreds of offers from women offering their bodies, while men offered him money and even motorcycles to tag along for the weekend." ... ((O_O)) Maximum cringe.
"I woke up in a bathtub with the worst hangover of my life". If per the earlier part of the article they were actually eating Tylenol like popcorn, yeah, they're lucky they didn't die. It amazes me what people were able to get away with in some circles in the 80s while others were hounded to death by the police looking for an easy takedown; I mean other than Boy George, did any of the other heavy substance abusers from the 80s ever get prison time for possession?

Or his kid. For whom he would fire a decades-long member of his band who wasn't family.

This is why Peter Hook has it right; let your kid play YOUR instrument, you take over for the dead guy.

Had to for it to sound right. Wolfy wasn't replacing ol' Cannonmouth in that regard.

David Lee Roth's solo band used Anthony's backing vocals live, not the last version of Van Halen.

Am I the only one getting creeped out by how much the evil character Cal in Euphoria looks like older Eddie?

Actor is Eric Dane. He's doing a great job. I hate him.
