(Who Gets Toeclipping Injuries wtf)   Subby's web browser landing page has been showing him this ad for a futuristic toenail clipper, for the last 4 friggin' weeks. Subby wants to just totally yank his toenails completely out now, to spite the clipper industry   (theclipperpro.com) divider line
More: Stupid, Manicure, little cuts, Nail clipper, ClipperProOmega, larger handle, leaky faucet, brand-new product, pair of nail scissors

Our three kids love to play with "Grandma"

But we could only afford stock pics of two kids.

When these people did their kickstarter for their first product, a fingernail clipper, I kicked in.  I can get some thick nails and normal fingernail clippers often don't work for me. As part of the post-funding questionairres, they asked what other products we'd like that were easier to use, and I said "toenail clippers!" because that shiat's even harder for me, for some reason.

Then the fingernail clippers arrived. They're...not good. To get enougn leverage for it ti cut through a nail, I have to press down on the very end of the lever. That makes it even harder to use than normal clippers.  It's in a storage box somewhere.

/wouldn't have funded if I knew they'd run this kind of ad
//or if I knew product would suck

When trimming my thick, grotty big toe toenails, I've been known to go out to the garage and get one of Mr SJF's snub-nosed cutters.

These clippers look pretty good, subs. I might have to see about getting one.

Too bad, because this seems like a great idea.

Yep - the idea looks good - the execution is typical fly by night bullshiat.  Be interesting to see what someone trying to make a quality effective version could do with the basic idea behind it

You can remove those with a magnet.

I suffered from ingrown toenails on the same toe twice.  Both times, the nail was removed.  The second time, the doctor asked if I wanted to lose the nail permanently.  I didn't even know that was possible - hell yeah please.

When he removed the nail, he applied a liquid poison to the nail bed to stop it growing again.  My toe hurt a bit for about a month, but the nail didn't grow back.  If I had the option, I'd have the other nine removed as well.  One fewer toenail to trim, one fewer cause of holes in my socks.  Brilliant.

I later found out the liquid poison he used was also used at the beginning of the Holocaust.  I really wished I hadn't looked it up.

Having broken many pairs of tweezerman clippers and cuticle trimmers, my experience has been that you're wrong.

I've been getting a lot of spam lately for these (I assume - I don't open it). I actually laughed the first time I saw it. Hadn't ever had toe nail clippers advertised at me before.

Also, Pretty Litter, which sounds delightful but I don't have a cat.

The fact that "Grandma" is in quotes is more than a little ominous.

Well it's not so much the clippers as what the naked midgets in the background are doing with them.

This. Ya know, it might be possible to retrofit some new sideways handles that give that extra leverage to existing clippers. Hmmmm, off to the lab.

You got seriously bad nails, there really isn't anything that's gonna go great.  Someone I know had a grandfather that had to use a file and grind 'em down, they were that bad.  Her dad was a little more high-tech and used a Dremel.  Luckily for her she's a she - the men in her line just have impossible, iron-hard, and ridiculously thick toenails

/new Dremel disks were always a, "Well, we're out of other stocking stuffer ideas" thing for her dad on Xmas
//he was very good with the Dremel apparently
///I'd imagine you'd learn to be after farking it up a time or two - pain does preach quite effectively

Green Bell makes fantastic toenail clippers, I love my Green Bell G-1205. I'm not sure exactly what is different about the file on top, but it is amazing as well.

SZQHT clippers on Amazon have been working well for me. Sharp, jaws open wide, and great leverage. Exceptional quality build. In-line though. Subby's tool with variable angle approach looks interesting.

Not what they have - apparently they've been going to docs since the 50's about once or twice a generation to try to figure it out or as some new medical 'well maybe?' comes down the line.  They apparently just have a gene for ultra-thick, sharp, and made out of adamantium toe nails.  They cut their way out of socks nearly as fast as they buy them unless they keep them sanded down to near nothing.  Went to pool parties at their place - their toes looked entirely normal.  Till you tried to cut them or file them down and you started wearing the grit off of stuff and breaking clippers
