WHO DEY!

1. Underdog.

2. Chiefs have enough SB wins and a recent one by their QB and coach.

3. The media fawning over Mahomes has reached insufferable levels.

4. Nobody outside of the bay area cares about the 49ers/Rams. Nobody cares about the Rams at all, actually.

I really don't get this mindset most fans have. Of farking course the media is going to fawn over good players. Why shouldn't they? Oh, the media fawns over Tom Brady too much as he wins 3 more Super Bowls than anyone in history? Waaah. They're going over the top about Pat Mahomes, one of the most physically gifted and impressive players in the history of the game who also wins a lot? Get the fainting couch! Complaints like that just smack of jealousy that those players aren't on ones' team

Yeah, but how many electoral votes does each state have in this poll?

That's not a bad heuristic, though. If I see a lot a bear shiat, I'm going to assume there are a lot of bears.

Population density map looks good.

More states across America are rooting for the Bengals to advance to the Super Bowl than any of the other three teams left in the NFL playoffs.

Why are we counting states and not people?

I've asked this question a lot in the last ~6 years.

This.  I'm a Bills fan, but how can you say enough about Mahomes. Josh Allen and the Bills offense might have played the greatest game in playoff history...until Mahomes topped it, and made it look easy.

I'd like Stafford to win to make sure the folks that were on his ass for years will have no more reason to. I've liked the guy ever since he came in the game after separating his shoulder and throwing the game winning TD.

This, oddly, is the reason I might root for the Rams. I don't like any of these teams, but if the soulless Rams win, it will be like a tree falling in the woods. (Plus they're about to enter extreme cap/draft hell so they might as well get their damn ring and then go away.)

I am going to guess that it's more about more folks dislike the Chiefs and Niners than actually support the Bengals.

Bathtub Cynic: Underdog.

And these two, as well.

/Although I kind of want Stafford to win just b/c of the underdog thing, too.

2. How many SB wins is enough/too many?  They only have 1 (2020) since 1969.
3. The establishment is too used to conventional quarterbacks, and they're having to reevaluate how they look at them.  Jackson, Maholmes, Allen and Murray are examples of not following the traditional mold.  The newer quarterbacks are more mobile and scramble more, moving the needle more towards a run and shoot offense from a traditional pro set pocket based one.  A lot of the fawning over Maholmes is just using him as an example of that change.

I have a parlay on for 49ers ML and Bengals ML... $50 gets $500...

I don't expect to hit, but I'd love to see them both take out the favorites.

I'm rooting for Cincy for a variety of minor reasons, but I don't mind any of those four teams winning.  The important thing is, Brady and Breitbart Starr are both eliminated.

I'm going to assume you're not walking through Playoff Woods or Superb Owl Meadows while making this discovery though.

I want a Rams vs Chiefs Superb Owl because (1) I have a man-crush on Mahomes, and (2) Stafford deserves it after suffering through all those years with the Detroit Kitties. In a way, I would love to see Stafford not just win it, but get named MVP.

The Bengals are a young team and they will be back, and fark the 49ers for always beating the shiat out of the Packers! Plus, someone said the media is always fawning over Mahomes...shiat, the media acts like Deebo Samuel is a combo platter of Jim Brown and Jerry Rice...which, to think about if, maybe he is, but I don't want to hear it every freakin' time he touches the ball.

I've thought about the Mahomes hate while reading some of the comments on different sports sites, and have decided -- scientifically --that it's all his fault for being on a small market team that was a doormat for fifty years.  He's directly to blame for being good and not being on all of the other 31 teams.  The NFL needs to change their rules about cloning, dammit!

Hope the Bengals win it all this year while their talent is too early in their contracts because we all know how Mike Brown will treat them come negotiation time.

"Okay. Enjoy Jacksonville, Joe!"

I checked the map.

The Chiefs get 160 electoral votes
The Bengals get 198
The Rams get 90
The Niners get 82

Huge AFC landslide?

I think it has to do with the media being desperate for the historic storylines.  The confetti was barely halfway to the field on his single SB victory and they had already crowned him the next Brady and the Chiefs the next everlasting Patriots dynasty.  The media is basically trying to will him into that role and many find that annoying.

I'm not saying Mahommes isn't very good and won't likely win multiple SBs, but it's very unlikely he'll get close to Brady.  I'm also not saying the Chiefs won't end up as a dynasty, they're well on their way to becoming one with their success, but again need to actually win another SB before the coronation should happen.  It's also extremely unlikely they'll go on a run like the Patriots had over their nearly 20 year dynasty.  It's such a statistical outlier that expecting another one to happen right on the last one's heels is stupid.

Similarly, people are always looking for the next great thing. They want conflict. They want something different. An article that says Brady is great it Mahomes is great isn't headline news, because everybody's read those stories a few times already.

That story was written about Watson, Baker, Lamar... they always want to find a new angle.

I knew my Bengals were going to win last weekend and called it.

This weekend I am not as confident and think it will be close, but am not sure that the Bengals can pull it out.

Even if they lose I am thinking Burrow/Chase have amazing numbers.

If Mixon can get them solid running yards to balance it out and someone like Higgins can take some of the stress off Chase, they will probably win it.

Their defense has been decent, and KC defense has not.

I feel sad for Carlos Dunlap, who was traded so he could try to get to a Super Bowl. (I guess he was also traded because he was kind of playing shiatty for the Bengals, but he revived his game in the second half of 2020.)

Actually that's not the biggest reason to feel sorry for Dunlap right now.

Anyway, good luck to your team. My rooting interest is complicated. I like the Bengals better than the Chefs, but I dislike the Rams and 49ers even more, so I pretty much want the AFC to be represented by the team with the best chance to win.

Hadn't seen that about Dunlap's dad, that's shiatty.

I like parody in sports, so Bengals at least getting to the Superb Owl would be nice.

Carlos got exactly what he wanted. It sucks because he's something the Bengals really could've used this year - a veteran pass rusher to rotate in and out to provide some pressure of the edge from someone besides Hendrickson.

Was still sorry to hear about his dad though.

Jackson isn't very good but I'll grant you Mahomes and Allen. Jackson costs his team games and like every running QB ever, he's hurt.
