I'm with you there. PLENTY of good printers in this country using top notch equipment. But they chose the Wal Mart style cheap way.

Good luck finding one that'll make the razor-thin margins of book publishing math out. That's how much cheaper printing costs in Asia are, and have been for decades. It's that much cheaper to have books printed overseas and shipped here than it is to print them stateside.

And it's not just corporations trying to cheap out. Many small presses literally would not be in business if they had to pay for printing in the US.
