I guess I'm really old if I recognize like three of 60 acts playing a "nostalgia" festival. And I know zero songs any of these artists play.

The company also rejected claims that this is all an attempt to cash in now that millennial emos have gotten to an age when their adolescence can be sold back to them.

I want video proof the person who rejected those claims did so without laughing hysterically.

theres a large amount of bands on that bill that I was into from 2000-2005.  Not exactly a burning desire to make a trip to see it though; if it had a few less of the big name expenseive ass bands, and was a summer tour that hit ampitheaters this summer when you want fun in the sun though, I'd go.

Recognized about half the bands but that was due mostly to having to listen to my daughters playlists.

Some are good, other meh!

This was all music that was current when I was in college, so I was pretty excited about this. I was planning on maybe going, but I'm starting to think it might not be on the up and up.

Fun fact: "enormity" does not refer to the large size of something, but rather how horrible it is. So, in this case, it might still apply.

and yet what is kind of generally accepted to be about the range of millennials (1980ish to 1995sh, early 40s to late 20s) means that millennials as a cohort are absolutely grade-A prime age to have their adolescence sold back to them

Long-time Wilco fans probably hate people like me; Jeff Tweedy could stop a song midway to tell everyone the literal cure for cancer and I wouldn't pay attention, impatiently hoping he just shuts up so Nels Cline can go back to doing inhumane things to his guitar.

I'd start shouting Uncle Tupelo requests. And they'd all be Jay's songs.

Jimmy sure is. Check out "Clarity". That's more 90s emo, which I would love a festival for. Get up kids, Promise ring, SDRE, Pedro the lion...

It still could be. I just don't think that particular band lineup would be the tipoff. It's not like they're promising Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Katy Perry forming a one-night-only supergroup live onstage.

Live Nation may be a lot of things that are terrible about the music business, but they aren't exactly a fly by night operation. Fyre Festival was essentially a bunch of stoner assholes that thought they could scam a few people into giving them money for a half-ass show.

Not sure the comparison is legit...

I just don't see how all those bands are going to play in one day. I know there is three different dates but it seems they are advertising all those bands will play all three dates instead of having different sets each day like a typical festival. It might just end up being sloppy and half assed with smaller bands playing a 15 min set or something. We shall see though.

The fact that it was just "indie" enough with plenty of bands that are older or out of the spotlight besides their fanbases was what made it suspicious

Different stages.  Summerfest has that many bands every day for a few weeks every summer

This lineup has alot of bands I and my lady enjoy/enjoyed, as we're both late 30s so pretty much a musical sweet spot for us, and even having the ability and means to go still said fark no at those prices. She used to work festivals regularly by running an art booth, and I'm not a fan of festivals to begin with, after the stories I've heard no way would I deal that amount of people and running between stages for $300 minimum. Plus, yeah, sounds scammy as hell.

I get that but it seems it seems they are going have to do a shiat ton of stages and people are going to miss a bunch of bands they probably want to see. Whole thing just seems off but whatever, I wasn't an emo kid in high school, I'll live.

True. Ish. I saw Wilco in the 90s in a bar, and Jim James was playing around town in the 90s. They didn't see bigger success until the early 2000s, but they were around before that.

To be fair, a lot of these bands are probably hard to track down.

For example, one of the lead singers could have been in a Mexican prison or something.

You think playing the 4th stage at noon at a festival brings big dollars?
