You can't unkick Trump's ass at this point.

Republican leader of rules committee dismisses stupid proposal from Republican lawmaker, meaning it goes nowhere and not even his own party is behind it.  Why is this being reported on, stop paying attention to stupid shiat.  At least next time make the headline "Profiles in Fail," or something similar at least.

But popular conservative website Gateway Pundit falsely reported the move had been successful. Kari Lake, a Republican candidate for governor in Arizona, then tweeted to her 107,315 followers "**HUGE BREAKING NEWS** -- Wisconsin Assembly Votes to Withdraw Its 10 Electors for Joe Biden in 2020 Election."

When Trump saw that he popped a boner.
He got it to a full one inch.

They held the meeting for Fake Electors at the consent of an elected official at the State Capitol.  At the time it was closed, but congresspeople could reserve rooms for meetings

Open records regarding WI's fake presidential electors suggest State Cong. Scott Fitzgerald played a significant role in trying to overturn a free and fair election. Here is his room reservation for the Republican Party of WI for Dec. 14, 2020 - the day the fake GOP electors met.

If only we could come up with some reason to get rid of the Electoral college maybe there'll be less crime.

Hey, if we're going to start taking back electoral votes... can we start with 2016?  There are 3 states that could use some attention...

The guy who proposed it pissed off the Assembly leader to the point he took away his only staffer.  Might not seem like much but since Walker's been gone there hasn't been anyone to step up and make these lunatics take a coherent direction with their powers.

Although now the leading candidate for governor on the Republican side said she wouldn't have done and sent a veiled message about God knows about it.  Oh and her possible primary opponent has pledged to run a guerilla style campaign against her and the winner gets as much Uihlein money as they want.  This sumer and fall is going to be a mess here.

The tourism slogan here used to be "Escape to Wisconsin" and people used to get bumper stickers and they would clip out the word "to".  It feels like the only people that did migrate here are right-wing jackrabbits, replacing the bright and well educated middle-to-left people who got recruited in large numbers to work on the west coast.  It's been a slow but steady IQ/EQ drain for the last 40+ years.

Phew. I was bracing for another Aaron Rodgers thread.

Agreed that a lone nutjob whose asinine idea goes nowhere is hardly the stuff of new Fark tags. Every state legislature has a guy like this.

I know it's wishful thinking, but there needs to start being some sort of legal consequence to people or businesses putting completely false information on blast like that, especially if there's a pattern of them doing that repeatedly over time.  The article says the Gateway Pundit "recast" the story later on -- I assume meaning they modified it to barely stay within the realm of legally plausible news commentary -- but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they routinely do that.  "hmm, okay we're not sure if <thing that's almost certainly false and bad for the GOP>.  Okay, here's what we're going to do.  since we don't know for sure, set the headline to say "ZOMG <impossible thing> happened! Democrats outlawed. Trump king forever"  then we'll go take an 8 hour lunch and revisit and revise our article if needed after doing some cursory googling. Oh and text <list of right wing twitter stars> so they know a new article is up."

Did they roll this guy out of the bar before the session?

At this point, it is just like a full-blown addiction. The people who bring these ridiculous motions, in the face of the clear reality and futility of it, have forsaken common sense and reason for magic-thinking. Like the alcoholic who has to take a drink to stop the shaking so they can go to work, these idiots find new ways to prop up their fantasy world rather than face the reality of the last election and insanity of Trumpism.

Short of a political intervention, detox and rehab, most of them are lost to reasonable society.

Sad and pathetic.

Yes, it's very important that we ignore Republican efforts to undermine the country, until it's too late to do anything about it.

There's a reason the coup de [redacted] happened on January 6, 2021.  By law, that's the last date when any of this would have mattered.  Once Congress affirms an Electoral College result, there are no backsies.

Buncha jackasses.

I heard there's this concept of "one person, one vote", instead of "one state, multiple votes based extremely loosely on its population".

While Utah came out as the least-drunk state in America, with just 12.2% of its population drinking excessively, Wisconsin was ranked as the drunkest state, with a whopping 24.2% of its population drinking excessively - five percent higher than the national average.

Can we pull back the electoral votes for Nixon or Regan? All laws they signed are in valid, all judges appointed and all opinions render are null and void. How far back can we go. I didn't vote for Charles II,

I will say this for Chubby's (as someone from Juneau county and spent a few times in there after working in the Dells) in the summer they bring in strippers usually from Milwaukee and occasionally Chicago to get the FIBs money but the offseason is usually local talent so just... don't.

Okay, imagine they went through with this. Then what? Biden steps down and Trump is automatically President For Life?

No. Nothing happens. It's just posturing, with about as much validity as the Wisconsin legislature voting on declaring a day Packers' defensive tackle Kenny Clark Appreciation Day. It has no authoritative power anywhere outside of Wisconsin. Who cares?
