FTFA: [James McCartney] also revealed he was considering forming a group featuring the offspring of the Fab Four, including Ringo Starr's son Jason, 54, Lennon's youngest son Sean, 46, and George Harrison's only son, Dhani, 43.

Why would anybody even consider Jason and Sean when Zak and Julian are much more talented musicians?

I'm not sure how to respond to this.

I get what you're saying. Your Kardashians mention is a prime example (to me; not a fan). But sometimes, this exposure gives me something interesting. I mean, according to you, reading biographies about people that interest someone is crap and pointless. It's why we always get people coming into Beatles threads just to shiat on the band or the members, etc. To me, it's weird that people have the need to try and tear down other peoples interest. I don't like the Kardashians, at all. But can't say I've ever gone into a Kardasian thread just to shiat on them. I just avoid them because they aren't my thing.

And some of the kids of the Beatles did something in their own right (see AuralArgument post above of Claypool/Lennon). Did they catch a break because of name recognition? Sure. But everyone does, in every career, and every economic level. Connections and networking are part of the deal, like it or not.

Cry moar you ponce.
Rich kids get to snort coke and crash their cars into pedestrians safe in the knowledge that Mummy and Daddy will make it all go away.
Rich girls will cry to the manager of a store until he has to fire some regular joe because her Daddy knows the CEO.
Rich boys will gang-rape any girl they please and call her a slut if she reports it, knowing they'll never see the inside of a jail cell for their actions.
There have never been any consequences for them, and there never will be.
They don't care that you're whiteknighting for them; they wouldn't bother to spit on you even if you licked their boots entirely clean.

There is approximately zero chance Stella McCartney would have gotten that opportunity/funding/training were it not for the literal mountain range of wealth from her dad.

I agree, but she did actually get that training. Lots of celebrities just slap their name on luxury goods that they had no hand in creating. She is actually a fashion designer. Unlike Ivanka Trump, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, etc., who are just trading on their names.

FTA: Yoko flew 17-year-old Julian out to New York in 1980 to break the news of John's death to the then five-year-old Sean.

Never heard that before, and find it hard to believe.

Regarding benefit of breaking into music biz because your dad was a Beatle, I would find it much harder, because of what people on this thread are saying was an undeserved break. Can you imagine trying to live up to that? You may not like country, but a similar parallel is Hank Williams Jr. Once he started in the music biz, he was presented as Hank's son, and sang his daddy's songs exclusively. Nobody wanted to hear anything original until he said, Fark it and went outlaw country and recreated and rebranded himself. The son of the most iconic figure in country music history "got his break" because of his daddy, but became famous by pushing it aside.

Sports are the same way...the pressure of living up to their mom or dad. It's why a lot push their kids into different choices. You don't want to be Michael Jordan's kid on the court...you're going to get everyone's best, and if you're not exceptional, you'll get ragged to no end.

Nepotism, especially in show business and it's satellite industries, will definitely open doors and give kids a chance. They still have to have some talent to make a living at it and have a long career. For every nepotism success like Ron Howard, Michael Douglas, or Jeff Bridges there are a bunch of "one and done" like Julian Lennon, Debbie Boone, and Tori Spelling. The silver spoon can feed you, but you can also choke on it. Stella McCartney was able to launch her career thanks to Dad but there is no way she would have a 25 + year career as a fashion designer if she didn't create things someone wanted to wear. Same thing with Zac Starkey. Yes, he does work with Dad but he also works independent of him and is highly thought of.
