Their pizza tastes fine -- when it's not overcooked.  Unfortunately it's almost never not overcooked.  Also, "spiciest" in mass market terms basically only means "AHH, HOTHOTHOT!" to people who aren't used to spicy things, and "I think I felt a tingle" to those of us who are.

It's not horrible pizza. I've had horrible pizza from local mom'n'pop joints. Yeah it's a friggin chain, so what?

I kind of want to try it just to see what their idea of spicy is. They probably can't fail harder than Arby's with their Blandiabo.

Man, I miss the days when Pizza Hut was a restaurant you could walk into and sit down and eat. It smelled like a pizza joint should, they always had the tabletop video game (Usually Ms Pac Man, but I've seen Galaga and DigDug as well), and they had a halfway decent salad bar.

Now it's a poorly aged delivery pizza or nothing.

I also miss Shakey's Pizza, but that was more of a kid thing. :-)

Pineapple is perfectly fine on pizza. But it needs something with life to work with. Ham and chicken are poor choices, they're bland for our needs here. Pepperoni works well, especially if it's a GOOD pepperoni. A good spicy sauce helps, too. Then you have the sweet and the tangy/spicy flavors complementing each other.

Stand back, baby.  We're going all the way to mild salsa spicy.

There was a Shakey's where I grew up that had the best video games around. I was never a fan of their pizza. The underside always had a sort of grainy texture, like they'd laid down the crust in cornmeal or something.

We did a proscuitto and pineapple a couple weeks ago that was really nice.  Agreed on the sauce having some kick as well as it does balance things out.  We do home made pizzas usually once a month or so and it was good enough I am gonna add it to the rotation.

oh I'm not anti pineapple, it just would have made much more sense on the spicy pepperoni pie, as you noted.

People are increasingly craving spicy food, Pizza Hut says.

Not really. They're craving something they can post no facebook.
"Look at me! I'm eating spicy food!" The whole spicy food craze is nothing more than edge-lords trying to be cool

Also, I like Pizza Hut so you haters can suck it!
I'd try this if I could buy a slice but I'm not getting a whole pizza just to try it in case I hate it.

I really like their Brooklyn style. I've never had them overcook it. Maybe it's just the one near you?

I agree with this with one exception- Dairy Queen has a burger called "The Flamethrower" and when it first came out, some years ago, I got one and wow- I was surprised, it was legit spicy! They seem to have dialed it back a bit, I had one a few months ago and it was ok but not nearly as spicy.

Local Irish place has a burger called "The Feckin' Pepper" which comes with a side of habanero chutney. I always ask for extra so I can dip the fries in it.

My "spice boy ring-of-fire-balloon-knot" years are behind me in the smoldering crop-dust zone.
I didn't listen to the solid advise of my elders and can no longer produce "solids" (if'n you catch my pongy drift).

Spicy marinara, red pepper and jalapeno?
I guess I've got to give the Hut credit for not going "Hey, let's put some of those reaper peppers into the sauce."
But this is like "I want to see your manager" white lady spicy.

The Shakeys my family went to when I was a kid had glass windows that let you see into the kitchen area where they were making the pizzas. It was popular enough with kids that they had a raised walkway along that wall. So you'd walk up three or so steps and then walk to the windows and look in. I spent a lot of time watching them making pizzas. It was better than waiting at the table for the food to be ready. I don't recall ever seeing an arcade game there. I bet they had a few and my parents just made sure we never went in that area of the restaurant. Very clever of them.

The 2 Pizza Huts closest to us closed during the pandemic, and I see that the next two closest listings are actually inside Target grocery stores. A small victory for local pizza? or did they merely succumb to Papa John's and Domino's?

oh man, and all the report card freebies? my favorite was always Friendly's - literal-goldfish-bowl-size sundae if you got all As. IIRC we got report cards 4 times a year. so, nerd that I am, that was a heckuva lotta free ice cream.

I can't remember what the Pizza Hut loot was, but trust me my parents took us all over town to every single place participating. mmm A&W...

I went to high school at a charter school that required mastery learning - if you don't get an A or B, you repeat the test until you do.  The result is a pretty steady A-B average so I'd run around cashing in all my stuff after getting my license and a car.  Chuck E Cheese was surprisingly disappointing... All the games were weird knockoffs and staunchly non-violent things.

oh right Chuck E Cheese!!! hmm, I think the only thing my cousin and I ever played there was always Rush'n'Attack... and we never got very far because our main not so secret objective was to get each other killed. my little sister loved skeeball, and would consistently produce tickets of unpossible quantities.
