McConnell hat his chance to be rid of Trump with the impeachment.

He chose poorly.

2022-01-27 2:40:59 AM
Mitch had two situations were he could have ridden us all of Trump and he said "nah."   Trump was impeached twice and had the Republicans voted to remove Trump in the Senate then Trump would no longer be able to run and his power over the GOP would have diminished to nothing.

1/6 impeachment was the perfect opportunity for this and Mitch voted no.   If Trump destroys the Republican Party like Lindsey Graham predicted then that will literally benefit everyone and this Mitch vs Trump stupidity will become magnitudes worse before it resolves.

It sounds like McConnell is worried that Republicans won't turn out and vote because they've been convinced that the Democratic process is a sham. It's lucky for him that Republican voters are practiced at holding two contradictory opinions in their head at the same time.

First paragraph of article:
Mitch McConnell is a very careful politician. He rarely acts rashly or speaks without thinking first. Which means that when he does talk, it's usually worth paying very close attention to what he says.

What he's trying to save is his own power over the Republicans.

This is an important distinction and difference.

We really need to stop linking to this Chris Cillizza garbage, mods.  At least Romero was kind of fun and quirky.

Trying to do the right thing one time in your life doesn't make you the good guy.  Especially when the bullsh*t you're fighting against was caused by you.  Talking doesn't work.  Old Yeller is your dog.  Get out back and fix it, dickhead.

Mitch McConnell thought it would be cute to delay the impeachment vote until Trump left office, then when the impeachment bill was brought up he said "you can't impeach a former president" with a smirk on his face.

He thought it was funny how he played the Democrats. Now he has a monster on his hands that has metastasized into a raging full on fascist movement. It will continue to grow and become more extreme until they are stopped.

Moral to the Republicans: you don't invite monsters into your party and offer them seats at your table. They WILL take over and kill you for being not being extreme enough.

Mitch McConnell was Donnie's pet turtle before he was one of his detractors.

The dipshiat could've said something ANY time Trump was perpetrating his farkery, and he hid in his shell instead.

He's a yellow belly and a limp noodle.

Mitch and his wife move the crypto wallets, gold/platinum bars onto a cargo ship bound for the EU where they retire on all of the kickbacks and embezzled money?
If we allow Q-anon types to burn ballots and "decide" who gets elected based on their conspiracy theory purity were done as a country.

Erm...what? You think McConnell isn't conniving and manipulative? He's been the most powerful man in Washington for over a decade now; he didn't get that way by being an impulsive ideologue. He's a cold, calculated professional.

Having lived among non-critical thinking, low-information conservatives for decades, I can say it's not that hard to get along with them

You just have to be white, male, and publicly agree with them about everything, especially whatever they've been told is in their magical books that they don't read

It's just easier to type and remember for me. Is this something you can deal with or is an intervention necessary?
