He was quite shocked because he had no idea other people get called for such things. He's led a sheltered life career.

When the camera did a closeup of Brady to show the blood on his face, I had to squint my eyes for a second before I could actually see the blood which was apparently on his lip.....I think.

Yeah, 'cause the refs take their orders from Brady. He also forgot to tell them which side was supposed to win the game! CTE settin' in, there, Tom. Time to run for Senator!

And they focused on it roughly 760 times.

You should upgrade that 19" CRT tv

Yes, it was all sorts of silly for them to keep focusing on it, but it was pretty clear to my old eyes

Yeah mine too. I was happy with the result but that was definitely a missed penalty and he was bloodied over it.

Maybe karma finally getting around to stacking a little against all the borderline calls in his favor.

You get fouled hard, and someone doesn't call it, you're going to have the urge to go, "JFC would you call this shiat when it happens WTF are you even here for?"  It's wise to resist that urge, it's not going to get you anywhere you want to be, but I totally understand the urge to do so

Hey Brady, the refs don't work for you.  It just seems like they do.

This was a basic QB has to keep his cool moment, even when you think you are right. He did not get fouled and (for most) a flag on that hit would be super unlikely. The defender hit the very bottom of Brady's facemask so the impact pushed upward quite a bit more than a forward, like in pool when you manage to just hit the edge of a ball so it goes nearly 90 to the side. So Brady thought he got hit more solidly in the facemask which probably would not have set him off so hard at the ref BUT... His chin guard pulled up because of that and did that to his lip. And it probably hurt, you could already see blood before they went to commercial.
So the feeling and pain from that hit made him think it was worth yelling at the ref during a playoff game. Not much can happen by telling a ref what he just saw and didn't call was actually a flag. Sometimes the best thing you can say is nothing.

I remember when Roethlisberger had to go to the sideline to get his broken nose reset due to a hit to his face. He didn't get a flag either. Now with correct thread goodness.

That was a penalty.

Not after mouthing off/bragging to the press about getting away with mouthing off to refs. He was going to get nailed for SOMETHING. He made the refs look like he owned them on a national level. They had no choice but to 'prove him wrong'.

You're still gonna feel it.  Just because YOU do it doesn't mean it doesn't burn when someone else does.  I'm not saying it's consistent, or right, or what have you.  I'm saying that's gonna be someone's reaction, be they a saint or the Raiders.

How can someone who never gets hit have CTE?

Q-a-ron.

But seriously, Brady has done everything.  It's long past time for him to retire to the mansion, and spend more time with his supermodel and kids.  It'll be for the good of competitive balance in the NFL.

Did you not notice the endless stream of Cowboys, Steelers, and Browns threads this year? Someone will step up to the plate, of that there is no doubt.

Thanks for the concern, though. God knows the NFL leaves us with absolutely nothing to talk about. Look at how barren the Sports tab is, not a peep about the NFL except for this.

In a playoff game, no less.  No in-game penalty but fined post-game.

Welcome to old age dude. In my prime I got away with lots of crap at work because I was really good at what I did. When I got into my late 50s I noticed I was no longer the golden child and people started giving me shiat for the tiniest of infractions. Might be time to hang up those cleats and go enjoy your hundreds of millions of dollars and your super model

Did Stafford get fined for what he did to Suh?  Suh was (may still be) a dirty player, but when he got his mouthing off penalty he was completely right to be pissed.

no and the NFL probably would have already announced it;  they usually levy fines on tuesday.

Adam Carolla had a great point re Aaron Donald, as far as I know, not getting fined for this play.

Look closely at what's on the back of Donald's helmet.

If you watch the replay, Brady bumped the brim of the ref's hat, which is why they threw the flag.  He can call them every name in the book and scream at them and they will just take it because he is the GOAT or whatever, but they can't let a bump go.

Hitting the QB in the face mask like that is, actually, a penalty.  You don't know much about modern football do you.  (Note the absence of a question mark.)

Yeah, second small comment like this from someone with no explanation. I wrote it all out for a reason, you should check out a clip if you are curious. He got hit in the chest then there was contact with the bottom of the facemask with the top of the helmet. Very different than being a few inches higher and hitting the facemask. Getting your lip cut by your chinstrap sucks but it is not a penalty. I see why, especially when it was your guy, you want that to be a penalty but it just isn't, and if they called that every time someone hits a shoulder or chest then there is helmet contact it would be called a few times a game, qb's could try to take a deflection to the mask, etc. Even here he could have looked down so his facemask was more in the way. Would still have been a no penalty because the rules designed around that, you can't put your helmet in someone's chest and still get called for hitting a head. You may want it to be, that it fine, but it simply is not how the rules are for that penalty.

I wanted to see more offensive games so if you are curious I am not really against anyone, although the Rams were my defense in fantasy this year so I am a bit biased.

I recall doing this in words when someone was defending Chase Utley. No one defending him had watched the clip. One guy was still convinced. Like politics, if people get told or think something enough it doesn't matter the reality of the rules or video, it's their guy and everyone is wrong. Don't be that guy (not anyone here specifically, just in general).

Wait, I misread you comment. Yes I do know about modern football, and technology, which is how I watched it with my eyes. Ditch the radio broadcast, and there are also mini computers with screens so you can watch replays and read rulebooks.

Hey look, even though I took the time for a well thought out response, I can also be a dick. How about that!

Seriously if you have a chip on your shoulder argue with the Brady haters. There was plenty of places you could have pointed out an item and had a discussion about what I said. People have had their nose broken and not gotten a penalty ffs.

Well, the announcers sure thought it was a hit to the head, and it sure look to me like the bloody lip was part of his head, but you go right on ahead and think whatever you want.  And I wasn't rooting for Tampa, I don't care much for Brady, but that was a hit to the head by any logical way of thinking.

Plus with a QB ANY contact to the helmet is a foul.
