Wall Street Journal, of all places, had the best lede:

John Allen left too much time for Patrick Mahomes, who left too much time for Allen, who left just enough time for Mahomes.

Jim Rome noted Monday how the Chiefs got off three plays inside 13 seconds, and looked back to the Cowboys failing to get one off in I think 15 seconds, in losing.  (well, ok, they got the one off but bungled the final 8-9 seconds.

either way, why/how one team is a juggernaut and one a laughinstock

Both offenses are extremely scary when they are at their peak.

I've been seeing a lot of commentary on Twitter and articles that that was the un-official Super Bowl, because the Chiefs are just going to steamroll their way from here, no NFC team stands a chance this year.

Just like no NFC team had a chance against 18-0 Patriots right?

I think LA is about a Chief-esque as one can me.  I think if Cooper Kupp was on KC and Kelce in LA, Kupp's insane numbers would be better (noting he won the triple crown this year).

Mahomes is just ...............he's like, Steph Curry times peak Aaron Rodgers.  remember when Rodgers, 4-5 years ago (with a ton of weapons) was making every throw from every angle, getting out of danger?  And the Steph Curry thing kinda similar;  he can kill you so many different ways.  Mahomes is just so freaking fun to watch, unless he's playing against your team.

I think it was last year's Super Bowl, when many in sports media said of his missed catch / dropped ball late in the game, "the greatest incompletion in NFL history".  what he did to even get the ball off, and come that close.  He's just insane.

i always remember Junior Seau (RIP) and.....Vrabel (?) yukking it up on the sidelines, hugging and fistbumping, "we did it!"  late in teh 4th quarter and as I always say, "don't tempt the football gods."  They did.

Helmet Catch moments later.

I don't get why coaches and players don't put more urgency and hustle into the whole game and not merely the last few minutes.

When it's 30 seconds to halftime, and the team that's behind has the ball and they just spike it to end the first half that's just laziness and lack of foresight to me.

Why don't you drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

Yeah, I saw this yesterday.  The Children's hospital is a project that Josh Allen supports.  There was a Twitter campaign in the KC area yesterday to get people to donate $13 each to that hospital, to honor how well Josh Allen played Sunday night.  I thought it was pretty cool.  The $13/:13 thing might not be appreciated by everyone, but as much money as it raised, I doubt anyone complains too much

Allen is getting there, too. I think he needs a "big" receiver like Gronk or Kelce who can catch passes just by reaching up and then plowing through defenders. His squad is good but they can only evade tackles: not overpower.

Bengals did beat the Chiefs 3 weeks ago, but that was a different situation.  That was "must win" for the Bengals to even make the playoffs and "would sure like to win and get #1 seed" for the Chiefs.  I'm hoping we'll see a different game this time, especially with the fire from last weekend behind the Chiefs.

There are viral movements within KC to take a cowbell and a drum stick to the game and have everyone beat the cowbell.

My friends who are going to the game have made their purchases.  It could be CRAZY awesome if it actually happens with 70K fans all giving MORE COWBELL!

Keep in mind the guy that caught 4TD's and had over 200yards receiving, Gabe Davis. We have Knox as well and he is a Kelce build/type player. We don't really need receivers, what we need are IOL and more DL/CB/LB depth.

That's pretty cool, but keep in mind this isn't a competition.

Oishei's latest update says the donations are up to $255k so far, largely from KC fans. Bills fans donated over a million last year when we lost the Championship game, and since it is Josh's main philanthropy it probably has earned $2-3million in the years prior. Keep in mind that Buffalo is about half the size of the KC as well, so this amount of money means huge things for our community.

Thanks KC, we appreciate the gesture.

I just like good football and damn if this weekend wasn't full of good football.

I routinely route for the Chiefs, but I've been really impressed with the Bills about all season.  I've got some friends that live up in Buffalo too, so it was fun rehashing the games with them (and giving them hell when the Chiefs won.)

Honestly, this whole season has been pretty good.  There were times this year where you had no idea who was going to win and that makes for a fun game. It lead to 1) the biggest Wildcard weekend ever and 2) the balls-out craziness of these last four games.

Other way around, Bengals beat the Ravens and put the Bills in their first playoff game in 17 years. Bills fans donated around $500k to the Andy Dalton foundation - and got a standing ovation when he played against Buffalo - before the game.

I watch the Bills all year and have seen at least half of the Chiefs games. The Chiefs attacked and dismantled the #1 pass defense in the league and the #1 points defense in the the league. I also watch lots of games, break downs of games, read about games and more. So yes, I "football" as you claim.

I just think that the NFC teams are weak compared to their AFC competitors this year, and I don't think the Bengals can out shoot the team we just watched on Sunday.

Four amazing years doesn't erase a lifetime of waiting for the other shoe to drop, unfortunately. I'm more confident than most fans, but there's still a voice in the back of my head saying that Burrow's going to throw for 600 yards on Sunday.

Getting Mathieu and Fenton back is going to help, though.

As a lifelong Chief's fan who enjoys the hype, but also tempers it - this is 1 BILLION PERCENT correct!

Same here.  Lifelong Chiefs fan.  The ups and downs over the decades (mostly downs) are still vivid in my memory.  The past 4 years have been amazing, but we know what's possible

Andy Reid is still your team's head coach. He's overdue for inexplicable clock-melting and timeout-burning late in the 4th quarter.

/Pats fan
//But I can still acknowledge that KC could beat either NFC team in the Superb Owl
///And now I have to report to Foxboro for the flogging

Yeah, how the hell did a Andy Reid coached team go down the field in ten seconds to get a field goal?

There was a video floating around twitter yesterday.  You can see Kelce orchestrating that drive.  1st play, he told Hill how to break to get open.  Hill got open, and gets a big gain.  Next play, he told Mahomes where to throw the ball.  That's where he threw it, boom, field goal range.  Everyone on the field knew to call timeout the instant the whistle blew.  I'm thinking Andy was a spectator for that last drive

And with three timeouts, too!

My theory is that he finally has a QB who he trusts and doesn't have to micromanage in critical situations.

Moose out front: I don't get why coaches and players don't put more urgency and hustle into the whole game and not merely the last few minutes.

When it's 30 seconds to halftime, and the team that's behind has the ball and they just spike it to end the first half that's just laziness and lack of foresight to me.

/not much of a sports guy

Through most of the game you try to score as slowly as humanly possible, because that means the other offense isn't on the field and therefor has less of a chance to score. You also hope to put up enough points throughout the game that the game will be over by the last few minutes of the 4th quarter and you don't need to "hustle". Probably the primary reason for not "hustling" in the last few seconds before half time is that you still have a half to play. You're trying to mitigate how fatigued your players are getting, as well as not taking any chances on bonehead injuries.
