They make home ovens that even get that hot?  Mine taps out at about 500F.

No no, not Farhenheit, that's Freedomheit... Why do hate America, Subby.

Also they make home ovens that can get to 700°F?!? What pizza sorcery is this? [checks] What do you know there are a few.. Not for the poors tho.

"The burnt pumpkin pie photo that went viral is so famous, we won't even provide a link!"

sno man: Also they make home ovens that can get to 700°F?!? What pizza sorcery is this?

Yeah, that's the real buried lede, here.  I mean, you can make a straight-up Neopolitan style pizza.

/I aim for ~800F in my uuni koda, 900 is just madness and I don't have the skill the handle it.

I have an oven thermometer that I occasionally use to re-calibrate my oven's settings.

That being said, I think I'd know that something was wrong when I felt the blast of heat from the oven as I opened the door.  My face isn't scientifically calibrated, but I'd certainly know that something was amiss when I expected a rush of 375 degrees and I get 500 degrees or more.

No way does a home oven reach 700°F except for a self-cleaning cycle. Could be a software problem that might display as 375°C but doesn't throw an out-of-range alarm and defaults to 260°C (500°F).

Or else the whole story is bullshiat and Grandma just forgot to take the pie outta the oven.

Sharon Weiss burned a Marie Callender's pumpkin pie, and posted a photo to the food company's Facebook page, bitterly writing, "Thanks Marie Calendar for ruining Thanksgiving dessert."

Yeah, every time I burn something I immediately blame the food manufacturer. Makes perfect sense.

So, do people not even consider the possibility that they farked up anymore? Just immediately, "The pie burned up, it's the pie company's fault!"?

I have one of those old-fashioned ovens that only has the Fahrenheit temp. I understand Europe uses Celsius, but this dummy lives in Georgia.

But I guess part of going "viral" (this is the first I've heard of this incident) is being a drama queen attention whore who assumes that everything is always someone else's fault and going on blast with your incompetence is the first step.

I mean I might suspect an issue with my oven as a possibility, but if you literally just follow simple instructions like "bake at 350 for 45 minutes" and the result comes out charred and inedible then I might also think something was up with the product/instructions.

To add to the confusion, the crust is not entirely black. No way it was 700 for 45 min. and it's displayed on a gas range top.
