Are there still people who defend him? And if so, have we checked if his brain implant thing might have skipped some key trial stages

It's almost like he just spews bullshiat every time he opens his mouth. Almost like that.

Is Elon an ass? Yep.  But he didn't retract the offer, he asked (in possibly the stupidest way possible) for Tonga to tell him if they felt they needed it because it would require significant efforts to achieve.

Which is sort of, "Hey, I opened my big mouth before checking with my team regarding practical concerns... are you going to hold me to this?"

Like I said, an ass... but still not a retraction.

If that's what it was we would have found out which members of his team are pedophiles.

My first question would have to be... are there any of their dishes on the island?

So basically Tonga's PM is a giant pedo guy.

Musk is Bargain Buckaroo Bonzai

Buckaroo would have gotten the island Internet, while doing brain surgery.

So someone sends a letter asking for internet help, and Elon sends out a couple tweets saying - hey, how important is this, we could probably do it but it'd be hard.  And this is a problem?

What I don't get is why there are so many Farkers that hate him. There are plenty of other billionaires out there to hate.

I remember when Haiti was devastated by earthquakes. I was going to send billions of dollars in food and medecine, but I couldn't get confirmation via Twitter that every single Haitian unanimously agreed food & medecine were needed. Oh well. Their fault.

I don't know why my brain insists on going with the old French spelling if "medecine." Mais, c'est la vie.

Yep.  See how many you can name.  I know I can get to six for sure, maybe 10 if I think a bit.  Canada has over 50 billionaires, the US currently has over 600 billionaires.

Very few like the spotlight.  I suspect because then we'd know where to show up with the torches and pitchforks.

Well, it's kinda problematic when you ask if people need help on Twitter to fix their internet service.

It would be like giving out your phone number so anyone who's having phone problems can call you.

Or your helpdesk telling you to email them all of the details when you call to tell them your email is down.

It's more like, "Being a billionaire doesn't exempt you from all criticism when you behave like a farking dumbass in public."

It's not weird that Elon Musk said some stupid shiat. It's not weird that the public is critical of him for it. What's weird is whatever Ayn Randian fantasy you think this guy fulfills, that compels you to insist he is above reproach and we should all slob his knob.

Actually, I have more of an Ian Banks fantasy (not that it's any more obtainable, it's only slightly more realistic). And so does Musk.

Ask me how I know.

People mocking Musk on Twitter and/or Fark for saying dumb shiat in the public sphere is a far, far cry from "obsessive hate."

That you would conflate the two and feel compelled to rush to the defense of a billionaire in an effort to shield him from any and all criticism, says a lot about you and nothing about anyone else.

Free life advice:
You can pick better heroes.

Thanks for the perfect example.

I haven't said a single word in this thread about Elon (aside from his name), and yet now he's my "hero" who I'm "defending".

Yes, I'm aware of the prolific and highly-celebrated British novelist. Never read his stuff, though. I might get around to it some day, but for the last several years I've been enjoying sci-fi from other perspectives besides "old white British man."
