In the 70s, Rhode Island... the local Corning plant used to dump crap all over the place. In one vacant lot, there was a pile of glass fiber, and amongst the fiber were green glass balls... 'boulders' - though some had imperfections - that we'd snatch up to add to our marble collections.

Shooting marbles was a pastime at my elementary school, before the first bell.
