If you really want my taxpayer money, buy food from these Restaurants  donate it to people like first responders or families that could use some help.

Just giving it to the owners is mostly corporate welfare

I'd happily buy more takeout if I could afford it. Until the government gives me more money, dream on.

Last I knew most restaurants could be open for business, there isn't a shutdown.

That being said, this idea is awesome.

I don't care how badly I want to mingle with others and eat at a restaurant; if this is the best that can be offered, then I'd rather eat at home. Are they eating food in the middle of a Home Depot?

Yup...even as somebody who's planning on opening a fast-casual restaurant later this year, it's time to let the restaurants that can't/haven't adapted die.  It's been almost two years, if you haven't figured out how to run a restaurant in the pandemic by now, you'll never figure it out.

2022-01-24 9:10:12 PM
I'm sorry , we can't do that.
If we give you money then you will just be lazy and not try to earn it.

We should cut off all this funding and force them back into jobs they can actually perform.

I could get behind buying restaurant meals for health care workers on the taxpayer dime, if we're going that route. It isn't enough to address the world of shiat they've been in for the past few years, but since the entire point is to address COVID-related issues, that seems like a pretty natural fit.

And they deserve it.

They lobbied states for permission to kill their employees.  Now they should go after the customers.

And stop making them come to work when they're sick.

Until then, f*ck off.

I'd be happy for handouts to restaurants that actually enforced the rules. Around here there are several places I will no longer be a customer for because they were doing indoor dining when it was banned. If you care that little about the health and wellness of your guests and staff, I shudder to think about what your thoughts on food safety and sanitation are like.

I just hope the day comes, and soon, that when ANYONE thinks of NRA that this is what they are thinking of.

With the other one being relegated to the dustbin of history and certain members of its hierarchy relegated to jail cells.

Be funny to see how the GQP reacts. Hard to get back to 'normal' when all the restaurants are gone. Or at least the mom and pops are gone. Oh, wait ... that's what they want. Nevermind.

How about this: bailouts in exchange for ending the server exemption to minimum wage laws.

It would be, if the SBA were just giving it to the owners. Instead, this Restaurant Revitalization Fund does come with strings attached.

It makes you wonder.
Just how big is the SYSCO lobby?

2022-01-24 9:27:11 PM
Sure. I'm good with this.

But here's the deal.

All employees MUST be vaxxed and boosted.
All customers MUST be masked, and vaccinated to eat indoors, masked to sit outdoors.

Don't like those rules, don't apply for assistance.

Unfortunately, too many these days are aimless, bottom of the barrel types.  They should really set their sights higher, especially if they've been recently fired.

Yeah, I'm not doing that. Although I'm happy eating outside, and I like it cold. Still, takeout exists, and I'd like to support businesses this way.

/Again, if businesses need help, that means people need help, too. Help us, and that helps everything.

You've had 2 years to update your business model and offer takeout.

If you failed to evolve, you deserve to go out of business.

Fark off with your handouts.

Ironically, you could. Because paying your employees more means more people priced into your business' market, as well as happier employees and a more prosperous business.

It'd sure be nice if businesses treated their employees as investments rather than as expenditures to be minimized.

/I know you weren't being serious. Still, though.

I'll support a bailout if everyone depending on tips to live is paid at least minimum wage PLUS THEIR tips.

Overall it's of strategic value to protect the restaurants because the cold war has always been a food fight.

You give me $2000 a month and I'll support a ton of businesses. I promise.

because you're also going to have to pay me to eat the slop they call food.

Because their primary purpose was not marketing but the illegal funneling of foreign money into the political campaigns of right wing politicians, and they're under enough scrutiny these days that there's not as much cash running through to skim from.
