Who the fark wanted to see her again? Absolute worst thing in TNG.

All jokes aside, she looks amazing.
And the possibilities she brings to the show are infinitesimal! Lived longer than the Borg, knew about Q before anyone else. She's an enigma.
I hope she has a large role in the second season.

Oh! And this...

Subby acting like most of the Star Trek episodes from any series aren't crap.

I say that as someone who has watched all the series (minus Discovery, it is on my to-do list) and loves Trek. Most of TNG itself borders on unwatchable.

I like most of Discovery, finally something breaks away from the standard TrekVerse. It has its issues, they all do, but it's a bit of fun.

I've tried paramount+ twice and both times the streams were laggy and buffery and unwatchable.  I don't have that problem with other streams.  But what really killed me was paying a monthly fee and still having commercials.  What the fark?  I have no qualms with people bootlegging that to torrents.

So with the monthly terms for a paid account, there's an option to also watch the commercials?  Weird.

Same concept as Hulu. There's a cheaper "ad-supported" plan or the more expensive "what's an ad?" plan.

It's some of the most interesting stuff because it's that much more relatable, but... yeah, if you want to have 21st century Earth stuff in your galaxy-spanning future space show, it's best to have that as your 'home' time period and place or have a REALLY REALLY good reason why out of billions of planets and billions of years of various civilizations that you keep coming back to a small cluster of years on one particular planet.  And even then, mostly in one nation on that planet.

Well they don't need a bartender who actually makes drinks. Unless she knows some obscure drink not in the replicator.

"What do you do on the Enterprise?"

"Well... somebody tells me what they want to drink, I tell the computer, and then I move the drink from the replicator to the person who wanted it.  Usually I move it at least a meter."

Why is it I just accepted the idea of a bartender when they're dealing with an environment where everything's automated, there's no inebriation, and there's no exchange of money?

You could make the same argument about everyone on the ship, after all, most of their jobs were standing at a console pushing buttons while the computer did all the work.

The difference being that everyone else was choosing which buttons to push.  The Enterprise bartender just acted as an extra unnecessary step between the user and the computer.

Amazon Prime in the UK, free with my mobile phone contract. Now it's all on Paramount+ which I can add to my Amazon Prime subscription for an additional cost. And instead of the UK site I'm being shown it in US $.  Feck knows what's going on there.

So I guess by your logic waitresses are unnecessary too. The customer could just give their order directly to the kitchen staff and pick them up themselves.

On the Enterprise?  Yes.  You don't need anyone to relay your order to a chef, the order is always right, there's no cheque to settle.  The computer's always listening, you don't even have to raise your voice.  If the energy expense of site-to-site transport is too much, and you can't have a replicator at every table (which would be odd, given it seems like there's one in every room), you could have a simple R2R2-like robot deliver and remove trays.

Tasking a human with that job given the available technology seems like make-work to the point of insult.

If you don't get that a hostess serves a larger function than simply pouring drinks, then no amount of explaining it to you will make a difference. As to your point of tasking a human with a job that available technology could do easier, I could poke holes in Trek canon all day long.

Real TV reason is that the Ten Forward scenes would be pretty boring without bartenders or waitresses or Dabo girls running around.

Who's 'tasking' her?  She's a volunteer.  She does it because she likes people, traveling, and Picard.  How is that not patently obvious?
