There's also a Canada joke.

That looks beyond revolting. The British conquered half the globe and the best food they can do is something that looks like literal vomit? I love peas, but I like them to look like actual peas, not something I scrape off the bottom of my shoe.

Hold the peas and you probably have a REALLY good pie.

2022-01-23 4:01:25 PM
When I was a kid and we had mince and tatties with peas, I'd mix it all up together into a slop My mum would say "Aye, that looks like a dugs dinner"

It also applies to whatever that is supposed to be.

2022-01-23 4:03:52 PM
um... ok?

it's a pie, floating in gravy, with mushy peas. granted, hardly the most attractive presentation, but...?

anyone who has a local chippie, please feel free to post photos?

Anyone expecting fine dining or presentation from stadium food is a moran.
That said, it would be hard to make that look nastier. Might taste good, but it looks like a sick dog just slunk away ashamed.
The good news is that it will look almost the same in 2 hours when it is barfed back up in the parking lot... except the pie crust may be soggier. *shrug*

ORLY?

That's from Boog Powell's barbeque place at the Baltimore Orioles Stadium.  It's in plastic and paper, but it looks orders of magnitude better than that limey slop.

Imagine vegetables that haven't been cooked until they disintegrate.

Yeah, there's too much wet. Needs gravy or peas, not both.

Always liked the sound of an Aussie pie floater, though:

fair play on that, agreed pick one or t'other... and yet, I'm just the sort of FOMO who'd give in and order both

I read this earlier and sat for a think about it before commenting.

Although the representation of each dish lis horrid in that photo, on their own each would compliment a nice cold English day nicely. I would not mix the two together to create that prison slop, however.

Too much gravy - far too much.

Holland's pies (served at Wigan, and at a few other football grounds) are excellent. Not as good as the steak and kidney pie I made at home yesterday though.

Italian livers are weak. If you order a second beer in Italy, everyone assumes you are an alcoholic. And they think you're German, based on what I've heard. And by "heard", I mean that I heard them talking to me in (bad) German. Well, that one old Italian lady spoke excellent German, but that made me even more nervous. Why would an old Italian lady speak such good German? And name her kid Manfredo? There's probably a story I don't want to hear.

The sad thing is, the meal would look fine if the pie, peas, and gravy were each served in separate dishes.

I'm not bothered about the food. If I had to support an English team, it would be FC United of Manchester. They're a club of, by and for the people.

Fair enough... I'll give that one to you. Presentation is more than I would hope for (or care for), and I would have to assume that it was perfectly edible, if not fairly good.
I shudder to consider the cost, but yes, you have made your point.

Not only was that hilarious (and probably accurate), but I've marinated the components and am ready to assemble... kebobs for immediate grilling.

No, I do not have facial hair.
No, I do not speak the languages of the world.
Yes, I know drunkanese.
No, I do not grunt (knowingly).

Regardless they are not for sale, so go pass out elsewhere.

Eh, for what it's worth, I just did a little looksee for where you can expect to find good stadium food in the UK. And I found this, from Reading City:

Fark user imageView Full Size

Chinese curry, bunch of chicken nugs, chips and veg.

But my point is that you can't judge the cuisine of a large bunch of folk on a single pic. This picture no more proves that every footy stadium in the UK serves Szechuan cuisine than Franc's pic proves that ever stadium in the US serves edible food.
