Yup, the Flyers beat the Red Army team by just beating the shiat out of them, like they beat every other team (they were the "Broad Street Bullies", after all.)  The Red Army team, used to playing the flowing, relatively contact-free game in international hockey competition, had no idea how to deal with that.

It was mentioned during "The Bullies of Broad Street" documentary on HBO...I should watch it again.
