If I can't order it on LLBean and get it in a week or so then I don't need it.

I bailed on Amazon when they started their union busting act. It also became apparent that they were the retail facebook. You're buying habits are their stock in trade, essentially making you the product, not the consumer.

Amazon Prime is on thin ice with me. Wife likes Prime shipping and video. I have mixed results. Once I got something same day. More often than not, "2 day shipping", takes much longer. Recently, I had a part on order that I was waiting for in order to finish a project (starting capacitor that had physical restrictions to fit in a confined space). After a month, they notified me that they couldn't get it, and to try a different vendor. Saying that they have something in stock, when they don't, makes me want to dump them. Their prices are no longer any better than anywhere else. I only try them when what I want isn't available locally, or on ebay.

the shipping is all over the place, i ordered something for a friend's birthday and picked the later shipping option as the quicker one would be delivered when she was out of town. i get a notice that the shipping was changed and will be there earlier. excuse me but there is a reason i picked the later date.

you are correct about their prices, notice quite a few being higher than brick and mortar stores on everyday items. slowly weening off amazon, they are good for gifts to family and friends as the shipping is cheaper than UPS/USPS these days

Even if Amazon's prices are better, I feel like it's smarter to support other places and keep them in business to stop Amazon  from becoming any more dominant. I started buying things from Etsy, or go right to the vendor's websites. I've discovered that on BestBuy's Outlet section, the electronics have some great prices.
