I've said it once, I'll say it again. All patriots are assholes.

I'm also intrigued by what could've happened. Think about it. He tried to hire someone to kill for him, what if a cash strapped "foreigner" showed up wanting the job? Does he back out of the deal or compromise on the principal? Does he let them do it but then complain that there others taking jobs away from Americans? There are so many questions here.

The white nationalists have certainly ruined the word "patriot."

Sensational question. Killing a high profile public figure is undoubtedly more difficult than killing an ordinary member of the public. They're under more surveillance at home and work, and someone like Raffensperger would presumably not drive himself to work, the governor would definitely have a driver. The degree of difficulty is high and the risks are enormous. It would be a truly desperate act for $10,000. The usual organised crime operators wouldn't go near it for that price, it would have to be someone like an undocumented immigrant or someone similarly desperate.

It makes me wonder if it's deliberately this half-arsed as part of an itself half-arsed defence claim "Obviously I couldn't organise a professional hit for the money I was offering, nobody would do that, so therefore that means I wasn't serious."

You've hit the nail though, someone would be desperate enough to give it a try, he just didn't find that person with that ad, that's luck not good planning.

It's mostly all just boastful, irresponsible, reckless talk -- so the money is as meaningless as the tuff-guy threats, regardless of the amount offered.

But these folks are FA&FO just how serious they are being taken, all the same.

Well, that was certainly his idea  - based on who he considered a "treason-weasel"

Probably should let the courts handle it for the moment.

Jumbled: Feeling treasonous?

Because opposing summary executions is indicative of thought, and therefore a thought crime aligned with treason?  Super weird, dude.

So it's about to be crawfish season and I just hate a treason teaser.  I think some of these crawfish were thinking about overthrowing a democratic election prior to their execution in boiling water and if you want to get down, you know how to reach me.  *kiss*

Contract killing is a sign that you don't have the balls and imagination enough to do it yourself. If you want something done right, you either go to a professional or you do it yourself. And professionals don't shop for 'customers' on Craigslist. In fact, 'assassin' or 'hitman' are pretty much trained and KEPT within organizations, as opposed to be freewheeling entrepreneurs. Because in order to get away with it, you NEED people to cover your ass, or sanction you to KEEP you from getting revenge killed.

There is no shadowy cabal of killers for hire. That's a cinema conceit. If you want someone in the ground, best be prepared to plan and do it your own damn self. But please, be loud about it first, because that totes won't call attention to it.

Not gonna lie, when my divorce was rolling, I had some pretty damn dark thoughts towards my wife and the former best friend she used to force things along. And as a chef, I've got access to a plethora of chemicals, chopping and flensing utensils, industrial grade ovens, and a LOT of plastic bags, and there are plenty of rivers, ponds and lakes to distribute bits in the area. But killing someone for being a selfish assh*le...that leaves a lot of folks on that list, and you can mull it around in your head all you want, but taking that action...that's not something you can walk back. And going to kill someone because they piss you off, while having zero impact in your life other than existing and having different beliefs...you are just looking for a way to be a victim and nestle yourself in a cocoon of justification for pulling a trigger on yourself. Because that's how it ends. Eventually. He just wanted the credit for the try, and sympathy for when he failed. And to show that he was willing to try, because...most folks just don't give in to their darker thoughts. He is just a failed romantic who wants to be seen and heard, and looking for that snatch of recognition, with a lashing or two of self righteousness to make it seem, to himself at least, that he was different.

We really NEED to get mental health care on the card when we talk about health care, because making it available and easy to get to...it might just save more folks from stewing in their own thoughts, and coming up with clever plans like this. Well, that and maybe looking at a public safety net that can ease some of that anxiety for the future too. And invest in education so that folks might be able to recognize when they're gamboling down that particularly dark garden path. It always seems to come back to folks feeling safe and secure to curb violence. People who are healthy and safe don't go out looking for trouble or to make a name for themselves like this, and they want to make a name for themselves because they are damn sure that they don't matter right now. It would be really nice if we'd focus on the root causes and get folks the help they need long before they get to this point. Even the assh*les, because chances are, they're assh*les because they didn't get the help they desperately needed.

Part of what made the USA better than the Soviet Union or China today was that our elected officials participated in a peaceful transition of power based on a secure voting system.
Now we shortly have people like this guy in charge of certifying elections in red states for 2024.  This is the second public arrest of someone plotting to assassinate a governor (the other was in MI).
In what farking world is someone like Kemp considered a dirty far left hippie?
What are these charter schools teaching kids?  Because it sure AF isn't critical thinking.

Northern: In what farking world is someone like Kemp considered a dirty far left hippie?

Absolutely. The Georgia GOP censured Raffensperger for not helping Trump steal the election result, and for leaking the quite revealing hour-long phone call where Trump tried to badger Raffensperger into investigating swathes of non-existant election fraud. But in pretty well every way Raffensperger is a dickwad, the only good thing I can say about him is he hates Trump.

Stacey Abrams is exactly the sort of activist politician I think the US needs to boost inclusion and progress meaningful social adhesian and I wish her every success.
