If Texas State courts can claim jurisdiction over the entire US, Time for a California court to order voting  rights protections nation wide and enforcement of California gun control laws in Texas.

He's a Federal judge.  Not a State judge.

Jeffrey Vincent Brown (born March 27, 1970) is a District Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and former Associate Justice of the Texas Supreme Court. He was appointed to the U.S. District Court by President Donald Trump.

No, this is not a State court, it is a federal court.  Which is why the Judge's title is United States District Judge.

I'm sure this will end well.

That should last about 10 minutes after the appeal is brought.

Texas is an at will employment state and employers can fire people for any reason they want. So just need to fire the anti-vaxxers for mental incompetence. The problem may be union contracts protecting the idiot anti-vaxxers

Um, I think the headline got changed the wrong way.  This is about all federal employees, not district court ones.

Isn't the point of the judge doing this to force SCOTUS to examine the mandate EO?

// or have they already?
// hard to keep up with which idiot court just sided with the virus in the fight against COVID

"Because the injunction protects the plaintiffs from intimate harm..."

1)  Bet this judge is not vaxxed and as such should have recused.

2)  It continues to be a bizarre existence in the upside down where the folks that are selfishly and thoughtlessly hurting society through refusing to follow health measures see themselves as victims.

So farking glad I work for a company that has a mandate.

It's Texas. How many unions are left there?

There is no court or mandate that can legally force you to face consequences from killing someone.  The means is irrelevant as this decision among others is process.  Feel free to murder any and all Federal employees and other citizens, citing this decision among several others.

And yet, somehow, Americans didn't think of this example of denial of human rights, when they were laughing at the Chinese diss track a couple days ago. The USA, of course, hasn't signed human rights conventions and has not patriated them into its law. But this Texas court example is the damage that the Chinese video was talking about.

The diss track highlighted Veitnam and Afghanistan as examples of countries that were ruined when the USA implemented its human rights regime (such as it is) there. There will be a lot of people who read about the Texas decision and wonder how the USA is supposed to compete with Chinese technology and institutions, or defend Ukraine, while their own courts are guaranteeing another hundred thousand Americans will die this year, and more will be disabled.

It's time to start cutting federal funding to our domestic banana republics. Including disaster relief.

American Federation of Government employees (AFGE) represents about 700,000 government employees and some of them are in Texas. The rules and employee protections from the contract have some teeth.

I don't agree with this ruling but it depends on what it covers.

I worked in a state court before and my bosses were the State Supreme Court and the administrative offices/Chief Justice of my division. The Governor really couldn't do much.

Now the set up for Federal Court Employees vs the rest of the federal government? That might fall under the same thing.

The other problem is they are being blocked from asking employees if they are vaccinated or not (let alone getting them to prove it).

Texas has the only Civil War monument to the people who were slaughtered at the hands of Confederate "recruiters" -- sixty or so immigrant German Catholics who left the Napoleonic wars for the promised land, not to own slaves.

The headquarters will be in Louisiana.  They will claim it is Houston.  It will be funded by Russia.

I was reading an article the other day dealing with the thought of a new Civil War. They posited that we're already in one (a non-shooting one, at present) due to the fact that so many Republican led state legislatures are actively disregarding the federal government and doing whatever they want. Which is what happened before the South decided to secede.

Reading sh*t like this just solidifies that belief in my mind.  All that hasn't happened is the shooting hasn't started yet.

The Supreme Court did not rule on the merits, the supreme court merely upheld an injunction.

The reasoning this judge gives is basically verbatim what the supreme court said.

Considering this applies to federal employees, they are not hired at will and cannot be fired for any reason. Federal employees have constitutional due process rights before being fired.

If that article won't convince the wife to agree to me buying more firearms, I don't know what will.

Otherwise, any Western countries interested in an engineer with slowly becoming not relevant expertise and a neuroscientist?   Our kids are pretty cute if that helps.

Dear Texas,
Secede, you farks, and take your far right wing judges with you.

Yes, I know it's a federal court. Take the US Fifth Circuit Court in Texas with you too. Yeah, yeah, their HQ is in New Orleans. Whatever. Take 'em. They're a pack of far right wing loons.

I thought that a US District Court could only apply its rulings to that district and could not apply it nationwide.  Guess I'm wrong. I'm sure this will be appealed.

That being said I'm looking forward to the absolute chaos this will lead to, when MMR vaccine mandates for schools are taken out next.

No they're not. I have to provide proof. I was just asked by my new manager if I was since I had a close contact. Entire factories that employ thousands are requiring proof. Everyone from tiny school districts to Megacorps are telling Abbot to DIAF.
