I can't look at that. But I will share this tidbit.

We had two Siamese, Isis and Confucius, aged 19 and 21 respectively. We had to put Confucius down and it was very sad for us. Isis was never personable to begin with so she was instantly very lonely. We adopted two kittens from Animal Control, Max and Ripley. Isis wanted nothing to do with them despite their obvious overtures for attention. We had to put Isis down a few months later and used the same in-home vet service. The vet administered the first shot to sedate her, and she went to sleep pretty quick. As soon as she was under sedation, Max grasped the opportunity ... to move in, give her some cleaning licks, and snuggle her.

I thought I would never stop crying.

Motley's last photo taken November 16, 2021. He started acting "off" Thanksgiving day and left this world that Sunday as the sun was coming up. Brain tumor. We weren't sure what was wrong until the wee hours of Sunday, but he did us one last favor and had a seizure at the ER which led the vet to a definitive diagnosis. 11 years old. He was with us since he was 6 months.

It wasn't how he was supposed to go dammit. He was supposed to have a few more years then - when he was done - get put to sleep at home, lying in his own yard, surrounded by everyone who loved him. The yard would have been full of people.

Here's the second to the last pic taken October 9.

That lil fella is Nickel, my parent's dog. Nickel passed about two weeks after Motley at age 13. Congestive heart failure lead to the cause.

I know Motley's last pic isn't anything special. I was lifting weights in the garage, and took it off the cuff to send to the ex with the caption "Your dog . . ." He'd just finished having the zoomies and was just chillin in his yard. It was his favorite thing to do.

Any time I think of having to say goodbye to one of my furbabies (and this includes the teeny weeny bottle baby kitten I foster) I think of this photo. Farker Wickedfish did this in a photoshop contest several years ago and it still gets me in the feels.

This is Gizmo. She's 16 months old. I've explained to her that's she's going to be a puppy forever and is not allowed to grow old.

My own Inu is fast approaching this period. 13 year old  pitty mix and he's really into his old-man ways now and it liiks like his back legs are showing signs of instability.

We're also going to be making a pretty massive move in the next several months and i'm dreading what that'll do to his health.

Too soon - we lost our dog last year.  If I show this to my wife she'll be weeping all weekend.

The Photoshop contest pretty much ended when he posted this. I don't remember the theme (might have been ghosts for Halloween) but this changed the game. It also received the most votes ever in a contest up to that point.
