I'm really hoping one of those hardcore hockey shows does a trade analysis on this like they would like a player trade.  It'd be fun.

"Who would you say won that trade?"

"It's hard to say anything other than both did, but let's break it down..."

If it's a hockey fight 90 percent of the time it's over before it began.  Hockey players aren't tough they just want to act that way

Compared to whom? Baseball players? Most don't get 20 minutes of exercise a 40 hour game. Love baseball but seriously, they're not tough. Basketball players? Two Words: Load Management. Football players? Bah, anyone can be tough with that much padding and don't forget the rules saying you can't touch people who throw or catch anymore. Futbol? HAHAHA. no. Boxers or MMA? Complete more than every 6 months.

Hockey is the most grueling of the major American sports. It is a long season, a hard playoffs, constant on-and-off the ice, and the process to be a player is one of the most intensive in sports. And don't forget: There's only one sport where people typically lose teeth, get stitches, and then come back to play the next period.

Life is hard, life is good. Hockey is hard, and hockey is good. Thus, via the transitive property, Hockey is life.

IAmRight: There aren't really basketball fans on Fark.

That fellow is a Kings fan so arguably, you're right because he certainly isn't watching what reasonable people would identify as basketball.

IAmRight: I like hockey, I just think hockey fans are pathetic when they try to associate themselves with toughness by praising the stupidity exhibited by players in their sport, then they all CJ around it in threads to reassure one another that indeed, they're super tough guys.

Being a longtime fan of HockeyFights.com, I'm pretty sure that I'm a legitimately tough guy after watching hundreds of fights over the years. That, in addition to watching a bench clearing brawl in person in college hockey which just doesn't happen yet somehow did, makes me pretty confident that I could handle myself should the need arise. Pull their sweater over their head and start swinging, doesn't seem too difficult to me.
