So he's down to country-club grifters and bottom-feeders as counsel these days? The RNC must be turning off the money spigot soon.

Eric Trump, a son of the former president and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, also defended Habba.
In a statement to Axios, he described her as "an incredibly competent attorney" who has "our utmost trust and confidence and has the fortitude to take on some of the most politically corrupt and unethical institutions in this country."

Look, people. If Eric Trump respects someone's legal skills, then I think we just need to accept as canon that the person in question is a litigator without peer.

FTFA: A former president typically has access to the country's most prestigious experts, including lawyers.

"Has access to" does not mean "are willing to take his case."  Given his track record at winning lawsuits, to say nothing of his track record at actually paying people, no lawyer of any real competency is going look at his case and say, "Yep, that'll line my pockets and burnish my reputation."  So all he has left is whatever legal representation remains that has little if anything to lose and is willing to bet on getting paid.  So, former counsel for a parking garage company who works out of a closet it is, then.

/He gets the representation he deserves.

The capital "F" suggests that "Fortress" is a proper noun. A business, maybe? This one seems a likely candidate.

'"It's disconcerting to everyone around him who actually care about him," the source said.'

Counterpoint: no one actually cares about him.  They care about what they might use him for, or what damage leaving him to his own devices might do to them themselves, but knowing all that we do about what he's like in private, I just cannot fathom that there is anyone out there that actually, genuinely, cares for that man.

If being a synchophantic toady isn't enough qualification to work for someone, I don't know what is.

I think the list of people who won't take Trump's case is longer than the list of people who will. She was merely the only qualified person who actually said, "OK, I'll do it."

Of course, that might also mean she's barely qualified to defend a traffic ticket, but if you gotta have a lawyer...

2022-01-21 9:38:48 AM
What they're saying: "He has some lawyers that are very sophisticated with years of experience litigating, and he has now fallen prey to inexperienced lawyers who are just telling him what he wants to hear," said one source close to the former president.

Now, fallen prey?  That's been him his entire life.  That was his cabinet.

No he won't. He'll still have a defense.

The details: Habba, 37, began representing Trump last year. She frequents Bedminster, which is how she and the former president got to know each other, according to a source familiar with the club's membership.

ahh, so he's banging her

This right there.  Plenty of lawyers out there are willing to take on a losing case, if you'll pay their hourly rates.  Just has to clear the "frivolous" bar...which not all of Trump's claims do, as some of his former attorneys are finding out, courtesy of their state Bar disciplinary proceedings.

Otoh, if you have a winning case, you can probably work out a contingent fee arrangement.

But, if you're a deadbeat with only hallucinations of valid legal claims...ie, Trump...you wind up with your lower quality attorneys...your Giulianis and such.

Then you hit the bottom of the barrel.

Then you keep digging...

Now questioning if anything to this article is accurate.

"Trump's friends..."

I'm going to have to stop you right there.

Every relationship he has is purely transactional. You're only in his orbit (probably literally, the fat fark) because he thinks you're serving him in some way, and because you're expecting something in return, even if it is just basking in the orange glow of his power.

He doesn't genuinely care about anyone, and nobody genuinely cares about him. He doesn't love, and he is unlovable. He's a sociopath. A freak. A monster.

An attorney once explained to me that there's a class of lawyer in this country that other lawyers call "Bleeders". They basically act as really expensive therapists. They are happy to charge by the hour to listen to you complain, and will file any motion or lawsuit you ask them to even though they know it will inevitably fail and waste the court's time. Some of them make millions at this.

If you need a lawyer, it's really important to get a referral and get a good one. If you get one of these you will lose and pay through the nose.

Libs dont understand that hiding ugly lawyers who know the law really doesn't work in actual courtroom cases. You just have to watch some of the legal shows like judge Judy and judge Steve Harvey to understand that most of the legal battle is presenting your case in an attractive manner for the cameras

One thing Trump does very well is get people their 15 minutes of fame.  He will always be able to find a lawyer to represent him - because there will always be one who wants their 15 minutes.

On some level, Trump must know he has no reasonable defense. A good lawyer will tell you truth. A bad one will tell you whatever you want to hear as long as you're willing to pay to hear it. Trump must know the reason no credible lawyer will defend him is that he has no case. But he's surrounded himself with sycophants his entire life, so why stop now?
