I was honestly hoping for a youtube revival channel on this, I might have gone to volunteer to work on it just for shiats and giggles.

DRTFA, but did he buy it?
I thought he would when it went up for sale.
I though, yeah, that is exactly what he would do.
Party boat, and yee can't swim

I think they are completely unprepared for the astronomical costs of maintaining anything that floats on water, never mind something that big.

But they get to look forward to the day they sell the boat, which is the dream of any boat owner.

TIL gay fish can't swim.

I'm honestly happy to hear that they're going to give this a shot.  Purchase price will be a drop in the bucket relative to restoration and overall TCO but props to them for taking the chance.  I hope they're successful.

I dunno, seems reasonable that one of the parties involved would have broken down the potential costs.

Kanye tweeted his junk a few years ago. It earned him my respect. I may not care for his music, his clothing, his opinions or his jackass-iveness but he has a first-rate cock.

I've never seen Pete Davidson's junk and I honestly I really don't want to. Based on the number of women who have been with famously big-dicked men who go on to date him, I assume he's got some length there but there's more to a good cock than that.

So not shocked.

When I saw the story about the ferry being sold the other day I literally thought "Why hasn't Pete Davidson (the only person proud of being from Staten Island) bought it?"

A small loan from Jost's ridiculously wealthy spouse will help.

Jokes aside, apparently they have a third partner, a comedy club owner named Paul Italia.

Also, maintaining a permanently moored boat may be manageable if they pick the right spot. If it has to continue moving that would be something else.  The boat cost at auction was $280,000.  That's going to be the smallest part of the investment though.  Renovations, even just to tie it down but also make a pretty sparse space look nice will be millions.  Taking a permanent dock space will be millions per year.  So yeah. It'll be a lot, albeit less than maintaining it being anything luxurious that still has to move under its own power.

And yet somehow the marinas are full of privately owned boats that don't make any money, and local yokels up and down the nation's coastlines manage to pull a profit just by taking handfuls of tourists out for whale and dolphin tours.

I think they'll be okay.

Based on what we've heard about Pete Davidson, he probably would prefer to stick it in Heranus.

I wish them luck. I just scanned a google map satellite view of Staten island, looking for where they might tie up and serve a clientele and it doesn't look good; public beaches, private yacht club harbors, a surprising amount of industrial docksides... there is something pretty wild you should see in the satellite view, the Staten island Boat graveyard. Zoom in close, man; that is an apocalyptic movie location if there ever was one.

This has possibilities of several awesome movies in the vein of Herbie the love bug, but it's a Staten island ferry that is alive, has personality, solves crimes, wins the 168th annual regatta AND helps the hero find true love.

I used to ride that ferry back when it was in regular use. It was a favorite of mine: those wooden benches, outdoor seating.

The problem is that the ferry terminal had a special kind of dock for boarding. Lower level for cars, upper level for specialized bridge gangplanks that are lowered in place by motorized pullies. And lots of nautical pilings to facilitate docking.

And that's just the pier infrastructure. Needs an experienced crew, maintenance crew (witjobsolete parts to replace), lots and lots of fossil fuel. And good luck getting insurance.

You're probably joking, but just in case not... why do you think they'd be constrained to parking the thing in Staten Island?

They bought it because of the cache of the Ferry, but the real money is with Manhattanites.

I know how much it costs if your car is towed in Manhattan.

I can't imagine how expensive it is to have your ferry boat towed.

I guess they could tow it to Jersey and find some place.  If I was gonna do something like this, I would dredge a short and shallow canal at the edge of the water, sink some pilings into it, haul the ferry onto the top of that foundation, seal off the mouth of the canal, pump it out and make a concrete a d steel cribbing under the boat, make a little 2-foot moat around the boat for the aesthetic, but essentially it would now be a landlocked building. No worries about it sinking or leaking.

Also, I think they should re-christen it "Brian".  Catch that buzz, you know.

I don't think they're going to be running it up and down a river. It's going to be like a parked restaurant somewhere. They may not have to get it running at all if it still floats.

Exactly.  I've been to multiple restaurants that are converted boats.  I've been to a ferry terminal that's a converted boat.  You don't have crews or maintenance.  You need elaborate reno to add a kitchen, decent bathrooms, etc.
