Samsung did gear vr like 10 years ago.  They probably own most of the patents that apple/meta/etc are paying for.

Any phone can fold if you're strong enough.

Samsung's just waiting for Apple to release a design so that they can reverse engineer it.

Looks like something cobbled together after the fact when they were getting sued for their so obvious theft.

It was... Samsung didn't get to present its fake designs at trial because they couldn't produce them during discovery. It's almost like they didn't exist at that point.

It's weird how we take movies that were intended to serve as a warning and the people with all the money say "what a great idea!" and people buy the bullsh*t.

AI robots aren't gonna benefit all of us without major social reform FIRST - if we wait for them to be plentiful, they'll all be programmed to kill us if the wealthy feel threatened. The metaverse isn't going to benefit anyone. Just f*ckin' stop trying to create the Matrix, too. And stop trusting goddamn Facebook to do ANYTHING to benefit people.

And even if they had, they would've been a fraction of a percent of what they were considering throwing at the wall to see what stuck, with the other 99%+ riffing off the phones they (or other) actually were making at that point.

But seriously, most of the people I try to share VR with won't even put on the headset.

That's gotta be the dumbest comparison I've ever seen. A bunch of vague similarities. I could easily find a dozen other devices for each of those that are as similar as those. For example, damn near all calculators look like that. A silvery grill isn't unique either.

In development doesn't mean sh*t. My space program is "in development".

Yeah, the US and Japan had talked about and designed all big gun capital ships but the reason we call them dreadnoughts is HMS Dreadnought launched first. And, like HMS Dreadnought, the iPhone instantly made older models obsolete. And, as a bonus, they took a market that was basically owned by Nokia (for just phones) and Blackberry (for phones+) with Motorola as a distant third into Apple and Samsung. Nokia lives on as the "I just want a phone" company, with a tiny fraction of the market, and Blackberry died.

It's also why you have to be careful asserting anything about Apple or Samsung's dominance in the future. Because Blackberry and Nokia were incredibly dominant....right up until they suddenly weren't.

My wife has one of those folding phones. Loves the damn thing. She hasn't felt the need to touch her fire tablet since.

That's because while they're starting to put on the headset, you're taking off your pants.

I know what you mean. I'll try and get you in to see the urologist as quickly as possible. I'm sorry you're suffering from "Fire Tablet" but there is treatment, so don't lose hope, my friend.

Amazing. Rectangles seem to be the way to go.

/IDGAF if a phone folds, why should I?
