Agricultural festival kings and queens - another artifact of a bygone age in rural America, just like everybody belonging to one of a dozen civic clubs.

My city was the tobacco auction capital of the southeast, so we had a Tobacco Queen.  That festival ended some time in the 60s.  Now days they have an annual street festival based around the local folk art, but a beauty pageant was never considered for the itenerary.

Who would have thought taking a role on Gillian's Island was a more dignified gig.

Oh no no no. Not at all. State fairs, county fairs, rodeos, it's all still there. It's why this shiat resonates.

Tina Louise thread just fine, but Bad Subby for stuff that's not true in the Cameo post---Weeners straightened things out:

"Another bullshiat post.

In the first photo she was playing a part in the 1953 Broadway musical Almanac:

The second photo is publicizing the play and National Idaho Potato and Onion Week:

And the last photo is unrelated to the other two and from a decade later:

You're on to something there. It always seemed dumb to me to try to claim Ginger wasn't drop dead gorgeous. I can see favoring one over the other, but come on, Tina Louise was incredibly beautiful.

bingethinker: I wonder how many times a Miss Potato ended up as a peeler?

The peelers did arrive, man alive, four or five,
At us they made a drive, us all to march away.
We paid for all the meat that we ate, stood a treat,
And went home to ruminate on the spree that day.

Well, yeah; that's the point of an 'or' question.  Who do you favor over the other, Mary Ann or Ginger?
