I am having trouble figuring out how this even can happen.

looked for some pictures of a caged golf cart and I guess this could be a death trap if it fell on the one side with a door and the other is jammed?

most others seemed to have plenty of room to get out if the person had average mobility

I mean...if you define "Bucketlist Item" as "Something you have to do before you die"...it technically was.

/sorry

Some driving range cages only have one door. Older ones certainly.
Thought it would be limited to just the old ones, but an image search says people are not done trying to save a buck yet.

How'd you die?
Freaked out.
OK, stairs to the left, one cross each.

yeah, that would be a death trap if it rolled into water and on the door side.

I remember an article from a few years ago about a guy who had a riding lawnmower flip on him and pin him underwater

Similar principle at work here

maybe I don't golf the high end courses, but I've never seen one of those things anywhere near water. water really complicates the whole "collect and resell" aspect of driving range balls.

Needs a severe list to port to be plausible.

Oh, there are whole systems in place to reclaim and resell balls from water hazards. This dude was probably hooning from the shed to the range.

I hope so. The idea of drowning with no escape is horrifying.  Granted I think it's worse if your stuck in your car slowly watching the water come in. At least this would have been faster.

Do all caged carts have doors on both sides? I can imagine someone making their own with just one door, rather than paying full price for one from a reputable company.

TFA hints at a medical issue prior to the cart going into the water. Heart attack or stroke?

I can see a cart for a driving range having just one door; not a lot of water hazards at a driving range.

On a regular golf course with water hazards? Asking for trouble from OSHA and the dead guy's relatives.

I could see it being used for the driving range and otherwise general purpose transportation. Obviously, I'm not a bowler.

If you were able to offer that poor sucker a choice today between being dinged by a golf ball ball and what finally happe3ned to him, I suspect he'd still rather not be hit by a golf ball.

I can't remember the movie, but one opened with a guy in one of those carts getting shelled. Caddyshack or Chris Farley, I can't recall.

Being trapped in a large ship going down and hearing the bulkheads go one by one.
(I know, they all pretty much go at the same time)

I know why the caged golfer drowns.

I'm going to assume the cause of death was the water, and not the chicken fingers from the clubhouse.

Well, since he was playing golf, it was probably a stroke.
