(Sports Illustrated)   Okay, we can forgive him, but after an entire season of unnecessary taunting penalties, why was this not flagged?   (si.com) divider line

It wasn't even the most egregious taunting of the weekend (which also wasn't flagged).

It just looked bad especially in the aftermath.

Also someone did point out that they've kinda... swallowed those flags for the last few weeks. I think a few of those calls this year pissed off too many people.

I'd also like to know why Aaron Donald keeps choking people and not getting suspended/ejected.
Packers o-lineman and last night, during a blowout.

It's the playoffs... unless you're Dallas, you have to do some really stupid sh*t to get calls during the playoffs.

Like lining up offside.

Maybe Dallas could try not being a bunch of undisciplined chumps.

That's the Dan Quinn defense, too. People always talk about the good, never the bad.

Yeah, THAT shiat was some bullshiat. The guy is trying to be the new Suh except actually worthy of the hype.

I can't remember the last time I saw defensive holding on a rushing play (not called as much as it should be on pass rushes, aka the Justin Smith special).

Dallas did it twice, including a hilari-dumb penalty on the Niners' final drive that cost Dallas about 50 seconds of clock.

What was the penalty called on the play?  When they resumed play the Rams were back on the thirty or so.

I think the Matt Ryan taunting call was the funniest of the season.

Holding, if I recall correctly.

Except the roughing the passer called against the Eagles on a perfectly legitimate hit.

/#1 rule of football - can't touch Brady

I fully expect the refs to throw the flags multiple times in this upcoming game:  "Unnecessary roughness, Defense, Breathing in the direction of the Aaron Rogers, 50 yard penalty, and Touchdown Packers."

Bears fan.

The showmanship is as automatic to these guys as falling on a fumble. They just do it. They don't think about it.

Oh it will happen. And just so you are aware, I am fully prepared for 30+ years of shiatty QB play and never getting a call again after A.A.Ron leaves.

That was a clean hit and Baker would say so I am sure.  And it was a pretty low key taunt, but it should have been called for sure.

I wonder how many of your fellow Packer fans feel the same way?
The ones I know sure don't. They've never had to root for a non-HOF QB.

My guess is that the officials saw how the Cardinals were playing and decided that it was a case of off-setting choke jobs so why bother throw the flag.

No, I meant taunting.

Nobody will EVER swallow flags for Brady. They're too busy swallowing his knob.

Note: the time Brady in the regular season should have been called for taunting.

I'm not a big fan of the group choreography stuff, but this year the best strategy was to try and get someone in front of anyone celebrating anything ever and you'd get flagged. That stuff was just crazy. Celebrating is fine, but that crap was crazy.

/the interception group photo is one thing treat seems unnecessary tho

He certainly should have been flagged for the "stay down" gesture whether he knew Baker was injured or not. Pure taunting. But he should have been ejected and fined a shiatload of money for saying, "He's still on his back? Good. fark him!" well after the play and it was obvious that Baker was hurt.

Unsportsmanlike conduct penalties are caused primarily by stupidity. I don't think it's enough that there's a yardage penalty, the player should also be personally penalized, something that makes it hurt immediately and not just "if you do that again you'll get ejected". Force them to be benched for ten minutes of game clock time as well, or something like that. While wearing a fluorescent pink dunce cap and standing in a designated highly visible spot.
