Yet, somehow, a young team like the Cincinnati Bengals was far more prepared for their playoff game than the Cardinals were.

Oh, so he knows he's going to get fired.

They were banking on Carr to stall.

Lifelong Cards fan.  No, I'm not one calling for Kliff's firing (but I understand the argument), I just completely don't understand the lack of adjusting down the stretch.  Hot start, then injureis took their toll, but the last 5-6 games, we finished what, 1-5?  I was at last week's SEA game when they kicked our ass - a 5 win team, I beilieve -  and the lack of effort was just astounding.

Yesterday was a joke.  K1 finished with, I just looked, a SEVEN POINT SIX QBR.  not seventy six, seven POINT six.

He's correct, but a few differences:

The Bungals played the Raiders, not the Rams.

The Rams are stacked AF talent wise and have a coach everyone wants to jerk off.

LA and AZ played for the third time. The last team you want in the playoffs is a team from your division, it ends up being a close game decided by one or two things, or a total farkup blow out.

Certainly the Rams are considering that if they beat the Bucs and the Niners beat the Packers.

Heard Brian Griese say that Arizona got down early and there is just no coming back from that against this Rams defense.

Tell that to the Niners.

As a Rams fan, I really hope it does come down to a Rams-Niners NFC title game.  If the Rams can't get up and finally beat that team in their own house, then they have no business going to the Super Bowl anyway.

Still, have to concentrate on the Bucs first.

That's funny, as a 49ers fan I would very happy if they end up playing the Rams in the championship game after having beat them 6 times in a row.

Same old Rams

That is a definite possibility, I must admit.  They played tough last night and they do that once in a while.  Niners seems to play tough every game.

6 in a row is farking rough.

I agree, I said the same about DAL the other day: a team like that doesn't deserve the SB (and won't get there, winners are always low penalty teams because penalties ruin you).

Kliff is completely and utterly incapable of adjusting to opponents, injuries, adversity, or anything else. He's proven that year after year after year, in both college and the NFL. And if a coach can't handle adversity, he is not a coach.

Weird how the Rams, 49ers and Seahawks are playing a perpetual game of rock-paper-scissors.

Bad game for Murray, but it doesn't affect the fact that he's gonna become extremely wealthy this offseason.

It is weird. Aside from Russel Wilson, the Seahawks are a completely different team from a few years ago but the 49ers still can't beat them.

I always thought the Kingsbury hire was an utterly bizarre move.

"Let's hire a college coach who finished below .500 despite having Patrick Mahomes & Baker Mayfield! Sure he lost to Iowa State by 56 points with Mahomes at QB, but that's just one game with one of the greatest of all time under center. What could possibly go wrong?"

When people talk about the lack of black coaches in the NFL, I've long looked at Kingsbury as the poster child for white privilege in this respect. There's simply no possible way that he could have ever been the best candidate given his resume.

Remember, the farking Bears beat the Raiders. Just based on that, the Raiders should have been banned from the playoffs.

It's football. Play the same game you've been playing all season. Yeah, the nerves are a bit different, but we're talking about people who are playing football at the highest level.

Also, you do have a bunch of guys with playoff experience. Chandler Jones, Zach Ertz, James Conner, A.J. Green. If you think you need some kind of specialized playoff knowledge -- which, again, you don't -- try leaning on some vets. Plus, most of the rest of them have played in bowl games, conference championships, rivalry games, CFP games, other elimination games, etc.

Meh, the Raiders played the Bears the day after the team found out their bigoted coach sent a bunch of racist, homophobic, misogynist emails.  Not surprising the team kind of quit that day.

The Raiders weren't a great team, but they did beat the Ravens, Steelers, Dolphins, Chargers, Eagles, Colts, Browns, and Cowboys.  They deserved to be in the playoffs as much as many of the teams they played, and the game against the Bengals came down to the last play.  Wasn't a ridiculous blow-out like all but one other game last weekend.

Your_Huckleberry: Bears beat the Cincinnati, too.

Also, this.  Any given Sunday.

i don't really follow CFB.  I'll watch the bowl games and championship, but I'm not really a big Saturday guy.

So.

the spring we fired what's his name, our one and done-r (John Wilks?), my mom is a rabid ASU fan and spends her entire day on the ASU message board.  She texted me a screencap from the board, about 2-3 weeks prior to Kliff's official hiring.  it was a guy claiming to have ties to A&M (or wherever KK coached in college), and claiming to have ties to the Cardinal organizations.  Gist was, "folks, I can't say where I got this from, but, Mike Bidwill and the Cards are making a furious, behind the scenes run, at Kingsbury.  Don't be shocked if he gets the job."

I laughed it off.  I knew very, very casually who he was and thought nothing of it.  But i was like, "never coached at the NFL level, I believe didn't exactly light it up in college, this is BS."

I was stunned 1-2 weeks later when it came true.  I had the text on my phone still, and talking to a coworker who is a HUGE Cards fan, and from that OK/TX area, and loves CFB, i said, "can you believe this?  Someone called it."  had the time/date stamp.  dude was incredulous.

They lost because their team has little playoff experience? What a joke.

They've played an entire NFL season where your final record determined if your season is over or if you get to the playoffs. So they know that every win counts and know that a single loss could end their post-season goals.

And the playoffs have higher stakes, and losing means your season is over, but it's still a football game. From what I saw, the Cardinals just sucked from the start to the end. They just rolled over and said "Please kick me in the balls again, but harder." No fight, no energy, nothing.
