OK, this should be fun - Al is writing it, so I have hope.

/Can't wait 33 years for his next film!

I love Daniel Radcliffe. So much cooler than Daniel Boringcliffe.

I'm ... not sure I can see it.  Maybe it's that I find it difficult to divorce him from his iconic Harry Potter role.  Or maybe just that I can't see him as being made to even look or act like Weird Al even with good makeup.  I dunno.  I'd have to see the trailer, I think.

I haven't seen that one.  But I think it's more that I can't imagine him in a comedic role, much less an outright silly one, which I imagine playing the role of Al would require -- I mean I'm sure there are going to be some serious bits in there, but he's obviously going to be called upon to be wacky and silly and funny, which strikes me as a little bit outside his theatrical comfort zone.  At least from what I've seen of him anyway.

To separate him from HP, watch "Guns Akimbo".  I'm rather surprised by Radcliffe getting this particular role, but with Al writing and producing along with Funny or Die, I think it can work.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to watch something that's totally not Harry Potter with him in to see him in more significant roles.  I know he's been working to get away from the Potter image, both in film and on stage, but my normal viewing habits haven't brought me across any of his roles of yet.  I might have to change that.

He's got pretty great comedic timing and really leans into weird bits.

FWIW- from the description it sounds like this isn't so much a real biopic as a satire of them using Al. Casting Radcliffe is likely itself part of the joke.

It worked for the cast of Airplane and spawned an entire genre of film. The people that star in them are called actors for a reason.

I wish it was someone taller. Yankovic is seven inches taller than Radcliffe, which is like a whole other presence. Sometimes your height is part of your personality.

Robert Carlyle played Hamish MacBeth in that TV series. He was pretty good and did made the TV character his own, but in the books, MacBeth is extremely tall, and it's part of who he is. So they weren't even quite the same character, and that was fiction, not a biopic.

In a more general sense, if Radcliffe does pull off this character otherwise, it'll prove he has a very broad acting range. He is a pretty smart guy, I think.
