Oh no! We might not get any legislation passed! What a change of events!

At this point we've reach the "BURN IT DOWN" stage of our little experiment.

There is still time for Biden and the Democrats to prevent midterm losses, but they seem to be willing to give up without even a minimal fight.

I'll be expecting to hear statements like:

If you're innocent, why won't you testify?  WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO HIDE?
The Democrats did ____ when they were in charge so we can now ____
It's constitutional (now)
Senators Manchin(R) and Sinema(R)...

Some sort of tax cut for the rich would be on order.   And begin the Hunter Biden Laptopgate hearings.

I wouldn't be surprised at quite a bit of election reform, in the direction of only allowing Republicans to vote, and then only for candidates with the last name "Trump".

No, they have to desperately feign total ignorance in order to drive their outrage.

It would be funny if the stakes weren't so high.

Also, they're not going to bother with impeachment. Does anyone think Trump is going to keep quiet on the "decertify and reinstate" bullshiat?

The Senate already has a Republican majority when you count Joe Mansion and Curtsy Sinema.

They'll impeach him for merely existing, at least once a week. And when he doesn't "confess" and resign under threat of impeachment, they'll impeach him for that too.

I fully expect Biden to fulfill his campaign promise and reach across the aisle to sign off on tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.

Nah. They won't switch. They're important as Dems and get to be courted. McConnell doesn't need them and will likely ignore their shiat. They stop mattering if they go R.

With Biden and Democrats floundering right now, the GOP is increasingly favored to vault back to partial power in Washington by flipping the House, and potentially also the Senate

We'll see, everyone seems to be too afraid to mention that hundreds of republican voters in are dying every single day of coronavirus, some areas have more deaths already than the margins of victory in those counties. Republicans might win despite that but until democrats start talking about this fact the narrative going on right now with articles like this is effectively push polling.

Manchin and Sinema won't be in office long after Republicans take over... Mitch will have them out as soon as he is in control. Manchin will retire after losing, but Sinema might need to become a lobbyist unless she can grift enough before losing the next election.

Mitch isn't going to trust them, even if they switch parties. They'll have a primary challenger in nothing flat... one loyal to Mitch.

Republican voter suppression and statehouse fraud will be more than enough to offset that.

All the while the progressives will be blamed for the loss of the House and Senate. We'll be told that them pressing for their radical policies that are favored by the vast majority of Americans are tantamount to political suicide because nobody wants them. Instead we will be told by the DNC that we need to run more Third Way Democrats in 2024 because that will surely win back Congress and keep Biden in the White House.

i shouldnt have to point this out to you politically astute individuals...
but a "senate majority" is 60.  dems dont have that.

dems having 50 just means they get to chair a lot of committees and prevent the other side from passing bills.  it doesn't mean THEY get to pass bills.

unfortunately since the filibuster became a rule thats been how the senate works.  anywhere in the 59/41 middle area is a place where you arent allowed to pass anything the other side doesn't like.  you have to have 60 votes to have a true voting majority now.

I agree it is frustrating and that it looks terrible to the voters. But, in all of the complaints, chastisements, assertions of failure... no one has told me a single thing Biden can do about the Manchin situation. I mean, they can't even have the CIA kill him because WVA is a red governor and will simply put a republican in the seat.

Please, tell me, what can Biden, Pelosi, or Schumer do about Manchin that will get the results we want. And remember, we still have the other one too.

But there are hundreds of posts from six people here everyday that tell me democrats are the real problem.  And Joe Biden, I'm told is the worst of the lot.

It's almost like some people would prefer I stayed home this November and didn't vote.

I am completely shocked that this would happen when you have a corporate Democrat in the White House. The fact that Manchin and Sinema have suffered no actual consequences for this is proof to me that they are doing exactly what the DNC wants them to do. The Third Way Democrats that control the DNC would rather lose to Republicans than pass progressive legislation because they are afraid that they would lose power permanently if the progressive policies work and people start voting for progressives. On the other hand they know that the Republicans will eventually screw up so bad that they could run a moldy sandwich (Biden) and be able to get back into power.

They know that progressive legislation is extremely popular with the voters, they don't want it enacted because they don't want to lose control of the DNC along with the money and power that it comes with.

The Infrastructure bill that we won't see any actual movement on for 3-5 years with the projects all going over budget and needing new money before they get finished? Projects that should have been approved 10-20 years ago?

Yeah, that's fantastic. Problem is, no one gives a f*ck. People take roads and bridges for granted. it's not sexy and voters don't pay any attention to it.

American Rescue Plan? We already spent all the money and want more. No one remembers the birthday money you sent them last year. They don't even send a thank you card.

We've accomplished nothing that you can say "LOOK AT THAT SH*T!! WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Voting Rights/Child Care... making the child tax credits permanent...

They have to pass something like that in order to get people's attention and make people say "These guys get it!"

Because we can't rely on "If you let the Republicans win, then you are going to hurt..." It's not enough.

I know what they have done, you know what they have done, but the American people don't give two f*cks until they pass this meaningful stuff that they want and we can't get it without those two Senators on board.

They are doing the best with what they have, but the GOP is really good at making it look like they haven;t done jack sh*t and the media helps them out every hour of every day.
