Yes, because someone living in what appears to be their parents basement will take down the GOP.

I feel safer now.

I was going to say, it's not 1995 anymore people, unless you have a good reason you really should be putting Republicans in a std::vector.

If by disarray you mean controlling every branch of US the gov even though they don't have the majority. Then they certainly are.

The highest-ranking participant was former White House chief of staff and retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, who told CNN that because of a prior commitment he was only able to "monitor" about 10 minutes of the call, which lasted about an hour.

As you can see, this is a top priority.

Other participants included former Trump White House communications directors Alyssa Farah Griffin (now a CNN political commentator) and Anthony Scaramucci, former Homeland Security and counterterrorism adviser to Vice President Pence Olivia Troye, former Department of Homeland Security official Elizabeth Neumann, and former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Chris Krebs, among others

So it's a team of people that were terrible at their jobs and said nothing when it would have mattered.

Never Trumpers are going to Never Trump.

Still a fairly small percentage of the Republican Party, but they do basically prevent Trump from ever being elected to anything ever again.

However, in most cases, they will still vote for Republicans for lower offices (most Never Trumpers are urban/suburban rich Wall Street types that don't live in the top 10 most crazy GQP rep's districts, which are mostly super-rural and also super-red), so don't count on them in the midterms.

...and if by "Republicans", subby means "the same group of ineffective yahoos who first thought they could work with the psycho, then thought they could control him, then got the hell out - and sometimes BEFORE knife met back", then sure.

John Kelly, John Bolton, Scaramooch (will he do the fandango?), Alyssa Farah, Elizabeth Neumann, Olivia Troye, Chris Krebs, all led by Miles Taylor...notice something missing?

Actual, elected Republicans, and most of the people who vote for them, want nothing to do with this - which is fine, since they will have nothing to do with it.

I don't think Krebs is a grifter; he's a security geek, who seems likely to have genuine preference that the US not collapse -- if only because of the secondary security headaches that would cause.

Subby makes a good point. The GOP can be in open war against each other and no news calls them "in disarray" or negative like that at all. But if the Democrats are not 100% in lock step headlines all the time say the Democrats are falling apart.

The only items the group seemed to agree upon in its first meeting, however, were that they're not sure what their way forward should be, and that they are way behind the efforts of former President Donald Trump and his allies to set the stage for 2022, 2024, and beyond.

Krebs was competent, and spoke up loudly and clearly when it mattered most. He was fired for saying things ex-45** didn't like, loudly and clearly -- to wit, that the 2020 election had no significant irregularities and was "the most secure in American History". The person next in line who replaced him was also fired; and the person after that... was someone who said the same things, but who due to a reorganization that Krebs led when he took his post could not be unilaterally fired by the POTUS.

They've succeeded in trashing voter rights, taking over the vote-counting and certification in several states, and gerrymandering the hell out of districts to their advantage in the last year, all but guaranteeing taking over both houses of Congress this year and the Presidency in two years. Such disarray.

Republicans are supposed to be the party of individualism, so conventional wisdom would say they would tend towards individual agendas and naturally have disagreements. Democrats are the party of collectivism, so any disunity is indicative of a collapse of the entire worldview of monolithic, one-size-fits-all government.

"How can you tell us what to do if you can't even agree amongst yourselves?!" may as well be the smug, sneering byline from the sensationalist media. They love seeing the democrats who n trouble; it generates clicks.

History pretty much guaranteed that the tiny Democratic majority in both houses was going to only last two years.  Midterm elections almost always cause the party in power in the White House to lose significant numbers of seats.

As for 2024, it's way too soon to predict what will happen.  However, if the GQP nominee is Donald Trump himself and not some sort of proxy, they will lose, guaranteed.

Not really applicable the same way these days.

Those stupid tropes should have died long ago.

The Democratic party is an organization of mostly liberal supporters who have nowhere else to go, but is controlled with an iron fist by corporate elites. It's not in disarray, it's getting the outcome it desires (fulfilling corporate donor's desires). The only cats to ever be herded are the progressives when they support policy that may impact corporate donor pocketbooks.

The Democratic party is most easily understood when viewed though this lense.

Bunch of not even "B" players, especially Anthony Scaramucci. How big could it be if not even Omarosa will bother with it? The players to keep your eyes on are McConnell and DeSantis. They are the ones who actually pose a challenge to the Trump faction of the GOP.
