I'm pretty sure this is the cracker barrel that poisoned us with the same chemical taste on the green beans. We both take a bite and ask the waiter "have tried the green beans they taste chemical" "no, I never eat the food here" ....we leave and ten mins latter we're both throwing up in the parking lot.

I always find these stories odd when people get poisoned by drinks. Are the waitstaff just grabbing some random glass that's sitting somewhere. I mean, it's not like anyone pre-makes glasses of water.

Are they just like "oh, there's a glass sitting there with something in it. I'll just give them that." It doesn't make sense to me.

Never knew when I'd actually use this. Pointless here, but hey, this is Fark.

The waitstaff at Cracker Barrel aren't exactly the pinnacle of the trade.  So I'd guess it was either a really bad prank or the person responsible was delirious from over work.

That's what I was thinking too.
They are scraping the bottom of the employment barrel to find staff.
Also I hope that optikeye reported that location to the health authority cause that sounds like a poisoning.
Chemical usage protocols are boring but very important!

I know just how this happened. Restaurant/Bar workers often fill a glass with that stuff to soak small items (it comes as nickle sized tablets if I remember right). You're not suppose to leave that sitting around (or probably ever use it like that at a chain place with rules). Some overworked dumbass grabbed the glass by mistake. I thought it had a tint to it, so you knew in the wash sink that someone put the stuff in, but maybe not.

I bet they didn't fully rinse out whatever container they were microwaving them in after "cleaning it".  Liquid soaps they use in commercial kitchens will make you puke your guts out pretty quickly..

I'm glad the courts are finally starting to do something about this. I refuse to drink any chemical. Particularly not that filthy dihydrogen monoxide they use in the kitchen.

FTA: Cronnon is still suffering from symptoms, including injuries to his mouth and esophagus, Greer said, which have incurred and will continue to incur medical expenses.
"Cracker Barrel's negligence didn't just cause (my client) physical harm; it took away part of his identity," he said.
Cronnon did not wish to comment, Greer said

Of course he didn't want to comment. It would have come out as, "I dak su assi a burd mu mouf."

I remember a case in NJ where a bar had just cleaned their tap lines, but didn't flush out the cleaner.

The cleaning company was too cheap to use the $0.15/per strip pH litmus test strip that would have caught that the line wasn't clear.

$750K awarded to the person whose mouth and throat were burned.

In my college human factors engineering class I read about a case where a woman was served lye cleaning fluid instead of a watermelon shot. It basically dissolved her esophagus. She and two other patrons were awarded $3.3M and the nightclub shut down.

This! farking this! Whenever I see this in BOH with chemical in a food container rather than a proper bucket I go off. One time I went a filled a similar container with Mt Dew and said held both to the culprit and told him to drink from one. He got the point right quick. (I dumped both containers immediately.)
