Yeah, that's about the extent of my knowledge of the character, which sounds awesome.

Oscar Isaac sounding like Jon Ronson is intriguing. Been a while for Moon Knight for me. Doesn't his powerset vary based on the phases of the moon?

He's pretty much "What it says on the tin", ie I Punch for Great Silver Justice.  The intricacy is how the various writers have dealt with the multiple personality angle.  If they just treat it as I Haz Sekrit Indenty" then he is rather half-dimensional.  If they embrace it as "This boy is farked up", then the fun times begin.

What they've shown of it so far looks like they're leaning into the crazy. I'm curious how they try to connect it to the larger MCU, since the other Marvel shows set up pretty big things each time.

His powers are based on the writer more than anything else.  In his history, he's been human and superhuman, with powers or none.  I think the current mindset is to keep it vague, since he's not quite sane, so maybe he just thinks he can punch holes in walls....

2022-01-18 12:18:06 AM
Well, at least it's a series and not just a two hour one and done movie.

2022-01-18 2:59:37 AM
Yeah, I'm intrigued.

I'm guessing that since everything gets tied in, and this guy will likely go full bloody vigilante, someone will try and send an Avenger or two after him... who probably decides not to stop him, after a few clashes.

I've not read any of the iterations of Moon Night. Charlie Huston wrote some, I like his novels, but his version seems to be marine turned mercenary becomes a beholden avatar of an Egyptian god. So, this version of the character is some other version. I'll watch

It does look like the white costume comes OUT of his body at one point.. but considering his sanity, that may not be physically happening.

so a twist could be, since they've already said he doesn't know if he's asleep or awake, that all his moon knight stuff is just a dream.  it would make sense in a non superhero movie or real life.

I also like his accent and my guess is it's a nice light english accent and it'll change to much harsher tones as he flips personalities.  Issac is a good actor hopefully the personality switch is similar to McAvoy (who I thought should've gotten an award) and its' a completely believable other character.

It would be nice for a Marvel project to address the essential plot issue, resolve it, and not introduce too many dead-end subplots and new characters that prevent it from dealing with the essential plot issue.

Yeah, I know, I'll watch it, and I'll show myself out. But these things are going from overstuffed to more overstuffed.

Well, I don't think he turns anyone over to the police.

The whole thing being the fevered dream of a mad man would be an interesting twist.  And it would also solve the issue with the greater MCU continuity if he actually isn't a part of it.

/Will he hunt Dracula for his money?

Worried about OI's accent though. Sounds decent enough in the trailer...

Could be worse, could be a superhero whenever anyone dozes off, might make a great statement if they use an actor with narcolepsy since they are severely underrepresented in the MCU.

My only quibble with Hawkeye is it was a Disney princess story.

I've avoided reading much on this .... I kind of just want to watch it with no expectations or ideas of how they will adapt it.  It could be absolutely fantastic, or absolute garbage.  Based on the casting, I'm fairly optimistic.  I'm just a little surprised Marvel is leaning hard into the mystic characters (Dr. Strange, Agatha Harkness, Blade, Black Knight, etc) while they pussy foot around with the far more relatable Fantastic Four and X-Men properties.

The latter probably has a lot to do with giving the public more time to forget all about the last FF4 and X-Men movies.

I'm guessing it's going to lead towards Blade, given that he looked like he was beating the shiat out of a werewolf.

I'll be watching it, not sure if the Mrs. will be watching with me or not (she can't/doesn't like the blood/violence from Daredevil Netflix series...only got 3 episodes in before she stopped. :\).

I mean, that's absolutely what's happening here. I haven't watched this yet, but it could very well draw from Huston's "The Bottom" arc, even though the Ellis run is what folks are expecting.

more or less, batman with supernatural powers.
Comic was a marine/merc fighter type, conscripted by an ancient Egyptian god to right wrongs/bring justice.

so less that from the preview and more, fish out of water academic turned super hero.

I had #1 at some point but it was sold. I wasn't really doing anything with my comic collection in the early 2000's so I gave it to my friend who sold comics for a side business and told him to go through my collection and see if anything was worth selling. I had a Ghost Rider #1 that is long gone too.

I was looking through my collection the other day for the first time in years and some stuff has value, but of course anything that seemed to be worth big bucks was sold back during that early 2000's period. Of course, to actually get real value, I guess you have to get them graded and that isn't cheap.

Not sure what my most valuable book actually is.

I'm sure there are more Star Wars actors in Marvel roles but I'm struggling to think of them, so I don't think it's quite an issue.
