I honestly don't gloat when anyone dies. I'm honestly a little sad that there wasn't something that I could do to help those people.

I don't gloat when someone dies, but I have trouble feeling sympathy for people who die a preventable death by the very sword they are trying to wield.

2022-01-17 8:07:34 PM
Gloating? No, and to be honest, I haven't seen any gloating in the "ha, ha, you're dead!" sense. Maybe a little bit with Limbaugh but that wasn't COVID and he was pure evil.

Now, to state that an unvaccinated person died doing what they loved: winning Darwin awards, well, to say otherwise would be dishonest.

2022-01-17 8:08:29 PM
I don't want to gloat. But I don't have to feel sympathy for the very obvious consequences of your very stupid choices

2022-01-17 8:10:36 PM
There's a difference between gloating and not giving two shiats, subby.

It's entirely appropriate to not give two shiats when an unvaccinated person -- and this assumes they were unvaccinated by choice, not for a legitimate reason -- dies from COVID. To feel no sympathy whatsoever. That's entirely appropriate and called for, and as much as these ignorant assholes deserve.

Gloating is only acceptable if the dead person was, in addition to being deliberately unvaccinated, also someone working hard to make sure other people were unvaccinated or unmasked, too. Or someone who tried to make life more difficult for people who were acting as responsible members of an interconnected society by choosing to themselves get vaccinated.

2022-01-17 8:11:19 PM
I don't feel sorry for people that could have significantly improved their chance to live by getting vaccinated. Also the devastation they cause to their families. Arrogance/selfishness over common sense and the greater good.

2022-01-17 8:18:36 PM
Purely self-inflicted at this point. Not gloating, but completely out of farks to give.

2022-01-17 8:27:24 PM
When I sat masked at my uncle's funeral, I didn't wish harm or death on anybody I saw unmasked or anybody I knew to be unvaccinated - not even those who may be online spreading misinformation about the vaccine.

People who are unvaccinated for political reasons ARE wishing harm or death upon others, especially when they post lies about the vaccine on social media. I have no sympathy for them when they get COVID-19, end up in the hospital, and start begging for prayers on Facebook when they realize that they're dying due to their stupidity.

I'm just going to go there.  If a right-wing asshole who is a COVID-denying anti-vaxxer bites it, I'm going to gloat.  I'm going to enjoy every minute of it, and won't feel the least bit guilty.  They made their bed.  Now I get to laugh and piss on their grave.

Listen in the beginning of this we warned people to be careful.
They said "What's the big deal it's just like the flu."

People started dying, masks and ppe were running short, everything started shutting down. Remember flatten the curve, social distance while the medical people figure this out?
They said "It's a hoax, the kung flu, and what about my job/church/hair?"

The medical people started figuring this out, some states flattened the curve while others for political expediency ran their people full tilt into the face of this thing. Stay masked up, social distance, be careful. Wait for a vaccine.
They said "it's a hoax, you all are a bunch of sheep, this will go away after the election."

400K people died in the USA probably an undercount when Biden took office.
The virus didn't go away but three vaccines became widely available.
They refused to be vaccinated for a litany of reasons but were more than happy to stop wearing masks, go to church, fly to resorts, and go to Sturgis.

Delta came. A whole lot more people died. The vaccines were proven over and over and over again to keep the grand majority of people out of hospitals and financial ruin, and out of the grave.
They refused to be vaccinated, fought with hospital staff denying that they had covid even as they were dying. They took livestock dewormer rather than see a doctor for medical advice.

Omicron came. They insisted schools open full bore in the fall. This was turning into a spanish flu scenario with a variant that is highly transmissible.
They still refuse to be vaccinated, refuse to mask up, refuse to take any minor precaution that might stop spreading this. Today 850,000 Americans are dead, the real number probably a million. Almost all of them overwhelmingly unvaccinated. Chaos is where we are now because they are under the delusion that a well researched vaccine series is somehow more scary than the aftermath of the american medical system or what covid does to the body.

I am done feeling sorry for people who won't try to save themselves or the loved ones in their lives. Maybe ridicule and maybe finding some shame might get the people who survive in their wake of stupid pigheaded selfishness to be vaccinated so this stupid disease might not be wave after wave of death for the next 20 years.

I treat others as they WOULD treat me. If I were to die, would they cheer? Probably. So fark 'em. I'm going to cheer, laugh and celebrate every time some dumb, unvaccinated redneck gets sick.

HA HA!!!

Why not? They gloat when their politicians take steps to make things dangerous for everyone else (e.g., remove mask mandates). Why shouldn't there be gloating when those steps lead to well-deserved comeuppance?

I only gloat if they've been active and vocal about their opposition to the vaccine.  Then they are fair game.  This cult needs to wake the f*ck up.

Weaponizing empathy on behalf of the people who willfully spread a disease that's on track to kill 1 million Americans isn't going to be real popular with people who've hardly had the opportunity to grieve for their own loved ones. Who received zero empathy and were considered an acceptable sacrifice for the economy.

I don't gloat, but my 3-year-old has to wear a mask in preschool and has to do active shooter drills. If your mindset contributes to him having to do these things, I might not care much when you're killed by your own stupidity, and might even enjoy reading your obituary.

Sometimes it's the innocent who die.

I have an extended family situation where someone just died of Covid.  They were vaccinated, but had cancer also.

This person's grandkids, who they hung with 2-3 times a week, we're not vaccinated because the parents had "concerns.".

The grand kids also lived and went to school in a smaller town... So you can do the math here.

And nope.  I can't say shiat.  There won't even be a lesson learned.

It's not exactly gloating, but it's definitely making folks aware that they were warned. And that they chose not to take the measures to protect themselves.

It's like warning someone to protect their chin in a fight, and watching them getting knocked the f*ck out because they just figured they were so special that they'd avoid the obvious end.

There was a post today on NextDoor asking for prayers for a father who is intubated. A few others were in the same boat or had someone in the family who died. There were over 50 prayer response but not one single person asking about vaccination. I stayed out of that mess.

FU.

That's it.

FU.

It's not gloating. It's being past the point of giving a fark about people that refuse to be reasonable. They might be good people. They might be smart. But they're wrapped up in BS. I don't care if they're hippies or Christian dominionists. They refuse to listen to science, reasonable and facts. They kept this thing going and continue to put me and my family in danger. F'n die then.

GoldSpider: How about "indifference"?

I feel bad for the Doctors , Nurses and families.
You would think that the 21st century would be over people giving their lives for indifferent leaders but here we are.
It reminds me of Iran sending unarmed people in wave after wave into Iraq.
Trying to win with the shear number of bodies of their people.

I hate people so much.

I wish it was easier to make the bigger issues.

It's not so much about saying, "you were wrong, we told you so," as much as, "hey, this happened because you listened to stupid people on the radio and TV and Social Media.  Would you like to start listening to smart people now so this doesn't happen again?"

Unfortunately.... Psychology and human nature and shiat means this is damned near impossible.

My desire is for anti-vaxxers to not exist.  There's safe vaccine freely available for this to occur.

2022-01-17 11:12:15 PM
Gloat? No. They're beneath my contempt. Why would I gloat? I am simply glad they're gone. Wouldn't it be a pity if they lived another forty or fifty years, making life all the more miserable for everyone around them? We lost nothing. Less than nothing. Throw them in a ditch and move on.

Exceptions made of course for those who, for real reasons can't get a vaccine. I'm sorry these assholes are putting you at greater risk.

2022-01-17 11:14:41 PM
They thought it would kill off the cities then disappear. I don't gloat, that would be crass. I drive my parade float on the interstate and shoot confetti cannons while blaring "celebrate good times, come on." I then find the overpass where someone spray painted "covid vax killed my son" and add "because he was a little biatch ass punk lol lmao" to the end of it.

2022-01-17 11:14:51 PM
This is a mostly preventable disease at this point and these farkers are not only dying of it but spreading it to others. Each one that dies is one fewer vector for the next variant to infect. Them dying makes the world a better place and someone making the world a better place is worth celebrating.

2022-01-17 11:15:04 PM
Yes it does. Because your unvaccinated family member may have murdered another person who is a loved family member of another family. But you don't give a shiat about that because most Americans are selfish assholes. It's the capitalist way.

Between deaths that weren't directly caused by COVID (like people dying because they couldn't get the surgery they needed, or because all the ICU beds were full of antivaxxer shiatheads) and certain states deliberately under-reporting, we're likely already past the million mark.

We should quarantine the entire farking Republican party and propaganda machine, Typhoid Mary-style, until they're either dead or COVID has burned itself out. Either way, society as a whole wins. Maybe we could wall off some chunk of Wyoming or the Dakotas, since we're unlikely to find a big enough island for the whole gaggle of shiatheads.

Imagine seeing the maintaining of civility in the face of fascists as a virtue.

I don't gloat, but I get super pissed when I see a nurse being interviewed describing situations where she has been spat upon, punched, kicked, told it's a hoax, that it was the doctors who infected them, insisting they be given ivermectin, all after admitting that they are unvaccinated and refused to where a mask, asking for the vaccine an hour before their death or saying that they won't get vaccinated if they survive, knowing that these people are prolonging the problem and may have taken a bed from someone who actually tried not to get infected. They are incredibly ignorant, horrible people driven by conspiracy theories largely due to their continued worship of TFG.

Maybe I should gloat.

2022-01-17 11:17:38 PM
Recognizing and outlining the causal relationship between their vaccination status due to their fundamental misunderstanding of reality and the manner of their death isn't "gloating."

"Why you gotta point out how stupid something that I believe is" is also not gloating.

Luckily, their surviving loved ones will generally be more than happy to tell us they were vaccinated, whereas anti-vaxxers want it treated like "a private matter."

My brother was a truck driver. Deemed an essential worker. Died of covid one year ago this Thursday, before vaccines were widely available.

Gawd damn right in going to gloat over every unvaccinated plague rat who dies for no good reason than their own selfishness.

It's safer to get thrown from a car then be stuck inside and get burned up from the explosion.

My wife knew a kid in high school lucky enough to get thrown from his jeep when he crashed. The post that penetrated his brain was just a stroke of bad luck.

gloat
/ɡlōt/
verb
Contemplate or dwell on one's own success or another's misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure.

-
Not taking the vaccine or wearing masks, and then dying from Covid isn't "misfortune", which implies bad luck. It's a pretty forgone conclusion that you're going to get Covid without taking the proper precautions.

Is it Smugness to know i'm vaccinated against Covid? Is it smugness to wear a seatbelt?

I'm not sure gloating is what I do, because i'm not meeting the terms of the word. I'm thinking it's more schadenfreude that i'm feeling.

2022-01-17 11:20:52 PM
I gloat a little, privately.

What I just can't stand is people that won't get the vaccine. I get in their face about it. I can't keep my mouth shut around people that are, essentially, "pro-death".
