So, you know, just a suggestion: how about we get 4G working well first? I live smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles County and I can't get more than 1 bar of Verizon LTE signal in my house. There are even  times my iPhone shows "1x" and on rare occasions, "No Signal".

Ok mods, I know its a holiday but you still have to be functional. Dont drink a bottle of rum before 9 and put tech in the food tab

In order to achieve the best speeds ever, 6G is going to be a wired spec.  6G cables will be triple-shielded coax and may not be longer than seven feet or transfer rates significantly degrade.  You'll need to buy adapters for your phones but the speeds will be incredible.

6G needs to be so complicated to use that stupid people can't get on.

That's why I refuse to buy a new computer to play modern games. After all these years, my Intel 486 still can't run Crysis in 4K. Fix the 486 first!

Might not be a bad idea to explore for a new carrier that has better coverage at your house.. :)

How about we figure out if there's going to be a civil/global war before we start worrying about how quickly we can download our Instagram videos?

5G has nothing to do with Instagram download speeds. It has to do with allowing your vacuum cleaner to connect to the internet to let Zuckerberg know how filthy your floors are in real time.

I mean... there's going to be a 6G at some point because that's literally just the version number of the product, that notation stands for "fourth generation", "fifth generation", etc.

Regulating separate iterations of a product or system whose core functionality is largely the same is, however, extremely farking stupid.  There isn't an entire body of law regarding the fuel efficiency of the 1999 Toyota Camry created by an entirely different commission starting from scratch than the fuel efficiency code for the 2003 Nissan Altima, there's a farking general set of auto codes for all automobiles within certain broad practical use cases that say what the fuel efficiency has to be to be sold in the US (and/or certain states, but that part is also kinda dumb).

The reason 5g got its own legal task forces and shiat was that it represented a qualitative change in how people use the relevant airwaves, with streaming relatively large amounts of data to each device now being a pretty constant concern instead of the intermittent one it was in 4g and the relatively minor one it was for 3g.  It doesn't actually have anything to do with the technical characteristics of 5g specifically, and whatever tweaks are made with 6g are extremely unlikely to represent a qualitative shift needing the same level of response.

// The shorter way to say it is that the 5g task forces weren't supposed to address 5g, but the cumulative changes in the overall infrastructure that have gradually popped up since the first generation tech, which was all that the previous laws really covered.

if the phone isn't too old i would guess all the traffic on the tower you are connecting to has downgraded your connection/speed.

iow, the clowns you are paying to serve your phone are not maintaining their network so it can support the number of users its connected to.

unless you are surrounded by alot of metal, etc that is absorbing the signal.

4G, 5G, 6G I want response times (ping), I could care less about speed (transfer rate) above 4G.

i just hate wireless.  i use it only when i have no other choice.  and have no patience for those who, to avoid laying ethernet cables (oh, the Horror!), use wifi for their desktops at home.  Sad

all that copper and fiber going to waste.
