I've never looked that good in my life and I sure as hell won't when I'm pushing 70.

Was Jeff Goldbum always this flamboyant or did his role in The Life Aquatic set something off?

Bathtub Cynic: Was Jeff Goldbum always this flamboyant or did his role in The Life Aquatic set something off?

He was always different, and I mean that in a good way.

Jeff is an odd duck, he always has been and always will be. He wears what he wants and doesn't care what anyone thinks. How nice to feel that free. The coat he's wearing is nice but I can't figure out why they placed the fur cuff in the elbow area.

I've often found Haute Couture to be hilarious, some of the things I've seen models wearing on the runway have elicited some real belly laughs. I know designers want to 'stand out' but they make some choices that make me wonder if fashion designers are just trolling us or if they have all, at some point, had a catastrophic head injury.

He's always been like this, he is a true actor, what I mean by that he would be just as happy in a low budget off Broadway play he found interesting as he would be in a big Hollywood Blockbuster.  .He's always been wonderfully eccentric and unpredictable in his life outside of screen and stage.

Then again, you will never wear anything with the level of panache the entire cast wore their costumes with

Jeff Goldblum Trivia!:

His debut film role was in Death Wish. He played "Freak #1"
The first word he speaks is "shiat!"

He also appeared in another Charles Bronson film, "St. Ives," and it's the only nude scene he's done in film.

Haute couture is art. Much of it is not designed to be "worn" in the general sense. It is essentially a form of (usually) textile sculpture using human bodies as a canvas of sorts. It can play with color, proportion, gender expression, texture, shape/silhouette, and it can all but ignore the person upon whom it lays.

It can also be deliberately humorous.

All "rules" of art apply to haute couture.

Jeff Goldblum can wear almost literally anything he wants and he looks great. And it's not because he'shiat, but because he's confident in being weird and not fitting in.

Being ridiculous and looking amazing are not mutually exclusive. In fact, I'd argue they are intrinsically connected.

You can laugh at these outfits all you want, but at the end of the day, he had the guts to wear them and you didn't.

*because he's hot, rather.

And part of why Goldblum looks so awesome all of the time is that he's not trying to be this boringly masculine dude. Look at how "fruity" some of those poses are--and I can say that, because that's our word. But that is some fey-coded body language, and it works. Because he just exudes queer energy: he's not obviously gay or straight or cis or trans or anything--he's just himself, moment to moment, doing what seems right for him. And it works.

Men could learn some things.

It's always funny to see how few things actually make their way to the public. A collar style, a hem length, or a certain type/style of jacket or pants. I don't mind that more things are left behind than are carried to the public.

If I remember right, in The Fly he had a 'Butt in the Moonlight' moment in that one.

Ahh, so close to remembering it correctly yet missing it by 'that' much! It's "butt-in-the-moonbeam walks".
