I hate deep frying; I love deep fried food, but I don't want to deal with a large pot of hot oil.  Also, the hollow space inside seems like it should be injected with cheese.

/I sound fat, and there's a reason for that

Samosas, pierogi, yadayadayada.  Every culture has a dumpling.  We've known this for ages.

I had some of the French ones a while ago.

They were like potato ping-pong balls.

Delicious.

This isn't a dumpling. The center is hollow. This is a puff.

Other than having to deal with the oil, it doesn't sound like much effort at all.

We have two deep fryers - still in the boxes.  I'm not certain why my wife bought them, other than they were at the Sample Sale and she paid pennies on the dollar.

1. They're not dumplings.
2. Nobody is proclaiming these are new.

Well, Mike Lindell should fry.  So that's 2 out of 3.  3 of 3 if you count to potato

...especially as this isn't a dumpling, but pommes de terre soufflees, attributed to a 19th c. chef named Collinet.

OK, I learned something over the Xmas period from Fark, because there was a food tab thread about dumplings, and to some, dumplings means a kind of filled pastry, but to others - and to me - a dumpling is a kind of stodgy ball involving some kind of starch and seasoning. Like what you'd have with a stew, or gnocchi.

But there's no farking way samosas can be considered dumplings. If samosas are dumplings, so are spring rolls, and they're definitely not dumplings.

Unless cereal is a soup, and Pop Tarts are a sandwich.

Shhhh! Today's generation like to pretend they invented "already-invented" things.

Did you read TFA? It's all about trying to do a classic recipe in a much easier fashion.

And a more dangerous fashion, unfortunately. I'm not a fan of being splashed with hot oil because something exploded while I was deep-frying it.
