Stupid clumsy fingers... premature post.

Was going to say it was snowing and we all felt warm and cozy,

My wife's got a family recipe for "chili dog soup".  Cook 1 pound ground beef in large dutch oven; drain.  Add 2 pounds of hot dogs (chopped), 1 ~30oz can each of tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and kidney beans, 1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp dry mustard, 1 bay leaf.  Simmer 30 minutes.  Remove bay leaf.  Serve with corn chips and shredded cheese.

Dead simple and absolutely fantastic on cold rainy days.

I do something similar but Chili-mac.  Really thick and spicy chili (sometimes with a chopped hotdog thrown in) served over mini shells or macaroni and topped with a generous helping of freshly shredded cheddar and a dollop of sour cream and green onions.

/Lots of chipotles, smoked paprika, and fresh Thai chilies in the pot

If there's a danger of power outage I usually go with a yellow curry, tastes good hot or cold.

Otherwise Chili in the crock pot.

Same here, for the kids. For me, a nice pot of beans. Miserable weather always makes the house smell like a home.

Grilled cheese is great, but I like it better with chicken noodle soup. I also use mayonnaise instead of butter

Read the headline as "foul weather meat". Which didn't make a ton of sense. I'm thinking "do people have specific meats they eat when the weather is bad? Huh interesting".

Which then made my brain go, "Maybe it's supposed to be fowl? That's a meat." Still doesn't make a lot of sense but headlines are frequently weird.

Then I noticed it was a link to an image. "AHA! It's a silly image of chickens in snow or something!"

Wait... that's grilled cheese. That is neither fowl nor meat.

Then I finally re-read the headline and realized it said meal.

And that is the strange journey my brain took me on this morning.

Cincinnati Chili -

My mom lived there for a decade and picked up a taste for it. Even though I'm in the south, it's my go-to. I make a version (in large batches that I keep frozen and thaw to serve) that tastes like Skyline, just without the metallic aftertaste. Fresh, bright, spicy (spices not peppers), herby, and it warms you all the way down.

Serve five-way with some Tabasco and you've got yourself some love in a bowl.

bean, barley, veggie and smoked ham hock soup.     A bowl is more than a meal and there is enough fiber in there to clean out all the old gunk.  you eat it three days in a row at your own peril.

Goulash for us.

2lb ground beef/turkey, box of elbow noodles, 1 chopped onion, 1 can peeled tomatoes, 2 cans condensed tomato soup, corn (frozen or canned), 1 stick of butter, salt/pepper to taste.

Cook meat, drain. Combined all other ingredients minus noodles. Simmer for 30 mins - 1 hour. Ladle over cooked pasta. YUM.
