I have no idea what this story is about.  Something about the tubes getting unplugged or something?
Was any crypto harmed?

It's gonna be hard to work a Ryan George meme into this thread.

Enom is beyond awful. The only reason their still around is because Google inexplicably uses them for registration when you buy a custom domain on GSuite.

... and this is why I'm not a production operations engineer any more. I like sleep and I don't like ulcers.

Truly a testament to Ryan's videos that he was the first thing I thought of reading the headline.

My company was actually affected by this extended maintenance at enom. While it was a bit unexpected (sys admin didn't get the notification of the migration) it's just one of those things you have to roll with. They were posting regular updates on their status page (enomstatus.com) so it's not like they were leaving people in the dark. It did bring me back to the early days of WoW with the weekly Tuesday server maintenance though. It was a bit nostalgic waiting for things to come back online.

Also, leaving satisfied that both Airplane! and Pitch Meeting memes were close to the top.

Can you imagine the stress involved with DNS being down for an entire data center? You're talking about broken everything!

I remember by boss wanting to use sql backed powerdns. I asked what if the dbs go down, he said they won't because of how it's setup. Guess what happened when the dbs were overloaded? Everything broke and kept breaking and we didn't know why until of fricking course it was because DNS won't work if you have 300 5 mins join statements running on the db. Logging into any system took 5 mins, because of course DNS failures. Had to hardcore the infra into the hosts file on every machine because of sql backed power frickin DNS.

Fark that noise. No wonder I had an ulcer.
