When they can consistently supply PS5s?

BizarreMan: When they can consistently supply PS5s?

I'm at the point where I just don't care anymore.  PS5?  I'll probably be able to readily buy one when Sony announces the PS6.  Maybe then

When their sales department says that PS4 demand has dropped so that retooling the last factory to a PS5 makes more sense.

As long as I can port over my PSN subscription when the time comes.

When are they going to deliver thar PS9 they showed in commercials years ago? Liars.

When they can sell titles exclusive to PS5 and make enough profit at it that the PS4 is not necessary to them.

I saw two on the shelf yesterday. Couldn't pull the trigger. Too much going on to grab a new console that doesn't really have kill apps yet.

It better not be soon.  I haven't 100%ed Dead Cells yet.

I'm starting to see PS5s in the wild, nabbed one just by walking into Shoppers Drug Mart one day.

I was just using my PS3 to stream, and much of last week to watch some DVDs. I do have a cheap Roku I used most of the time, but the PS3 is my old DVD/blu-ray player, and that's just fine. I either game on a real c64, a pi with RetroPie, or my pc. I haven't cared much about console games since the last Gran Turismo.

Don't they still sell PS2s in Brazil?

The problem is that - for both the PS2 and PS4 - they made a great console that was somehow able to keep up with the times, and demand DIDN'T really drop despite a newer console being available.

IIRC, the PS2 outsold the PS3 for pretty much the latter's entire lifespan, and it was only a dwindling supply plus a new SECOND generation of PS (the PS4; or soon, the PS6) that finally got everyone's attention.

It's goofy looking but pretty comfortable for larger hands.

The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are a hoot too.

Virtually every game ad said at the end: "console exclusive, also available on PC."

I feel like this is a console generation I can easily skip. PC master race and all.

They have a niche. I have a laptop that handles my general computing needs, so a desktop would be a little redundant for me. Over the holidays I grabbed an Xbox Series S, and plays games pretty darn well a $299 system. Not 4K, but I honestly don't care. I'm a filthy casual, so it is all the console I need.

you pay too high a price to be on the bleeding edge of tech, even if you have 'latest gen' the selection of games is limited/buggy/over priced/delayed

outside of pvp/co-op gaming it is not in your best interest to be "first"

ride the scabby crusted edge of tech and save a shiny nickel

The PS3 was the best blu-ray player for the first 3 or 4 years of the tech. It had higher level hdmi and USB ports, and it was able to incorporate the newest features using the software updates directly from the net or an easy to work USB download. And it played games.

The difference is that with this generation of consoles, you have a large library of previous generation games that will play better on the new systems:

https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/ps5-game-boost-all-major-ps4-game-improvements

https://majornelson.com/fpsboost/

So you immediately get a benefit from upgrading, even if you don't buy a single new generation game.

Plus on the Xbox side, you have some old games that have been upgraded for the new consoles (No Man's Sky, Forza Horizon 4, Doom Eternal, Subnautica, Hellblade) so you as soon as you fire up the game on the new Xbox it prompts you to download the version optimized for the new generation.

That's probably one big reason demand has been so high. You don't have to start all over with a new library of games, and you get benefits from day one (especially with load times).

And that's still how I'm using it. Pretty good buy and I've had it like 10 years now I think. I can't even remember.

I have a 5. PS4 got broken and I didn't want to buy another of those when the 5 is out.

It's kinda dumb how much more fun the Switch is when you could fit three of them inside a PS5. With their docks. And the cables all scrunched up in there too.

But it's fine. Probably the only reason I'm not kinda regretting it is that they give you about a dozen mostly-good games for free when you buy one, if you have PS+.

"You know how kids are-a year is an eternity to them," the wraithlike specter said Monday during a visit to the Southfield home of 13-year-old Josh Kuehn. "So just imagine showing them something they'll have to wait 14 years for. Teasing them with a glimpse of the PS5 is the ultimate torture. They absolutely lose their minds. It's like saying, 'Hey, kid, you'll be an old man before you ever get to touch this.'"

This part, from a 2002 Onion skit makes me want to trawl through the 2003 Onion archives to see what stonks to buy.

I'm glad I bought a PS4 pro, even although I really wanted to jump the generation and hold out for a PS5. The PSNow service has proven very much worth the 100 Kroner a month - I haven't had a backlog of games like this since I had a steam account.

Around these parts you can't get a new PS4 or PS5, and second-hand ones ain't cheap. So probably not.

Because I don't have an unlimited supply of money, when I bought my computer 5 years ago I added in what current consoles were going for and used that towards adding a graphics card to it. When you rationalize it like that, an entry to mid level gaming PC makes a lot of fiscal sense.

Forgot to add that if you are not in the market for a PC, then a console does make sense. Still, it really is worth it to line up your computing and gaming upgrade to make the gaming PC the way to go if possible.

You built a computer with an PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive 5 years ago?
